We have about 12 or so of the old B&W Astroboys from the 60s. Does anybody know where more might be found, or who has a collection they can share one way or another?
Even the old 16mm films?
Thank you so much!

The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

The Right Stuf have 36 episodes available spanning 18 VHS (NTSC) tapes. These are the only ones officially available in English at the moment.

This private trader has an additional 36 episodes listed, but trading is on hold until Feb 2006.

Madman Entertainment will be releasing the 60s series on region 4 DVD this year (announcement here). Currently there's no information on which episodes will be available.

All the Japanese episodes have been released on DVD and are available here in 6 box sets of 36 discs (plus a couple of "best of" releases). Unfortunately there's no English audio or subtitles, and the entire set costs around US$1600.

In regards to the raw Nihongo 60's eps: I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1  Even though I reconize onlya few Japanese words, these are still way more entertaining than either of the color versions. I swear I laughed myself red in the face more than once, & this was not unusual. I am now about to watch #58.

#57 is Robot School, known to English speakers as Astroboy goes to School. Now, I have seen the tape of the English version more than a few times, but I noticed something strange on the DVD.

The scene was when A. Mechanic had captured Uranium & her Sensei, and had just informed them of his intentions. He then put the stolen sculpture in the cart, and sent it on its way to the blast furnace.

Here is the funny part: Several cuts from different perspectives showed the doomed sculpture going down the tracks toward the fire. Most of these had the viewer riding along with the cart, but one cut showed the cart as it moved away from the viewer into the distance. There were no fewer than 8 frames of the cut, & I think as many as 12. What was strange about it, you ask? Uranium was in the cart! In fact, this very same cut was used later when the bad guy actually put her and her Sensei in it for their turn in the furnace! Sensei was slumped over, & so was not easily seen, but Little Uran was in the cart both times!
