Too Similar?

Postby Fauna » 18 years ago

There's this webcomic called Skipper the Robot Kid...does anybody think it's too close to Astro Boy?
Here are a few examples:

It centres around a boy who has robotic parts put in him after he gets hit by an SUV. He receives jets and armour, finds a robotic boy and his sister, and helps those two to defeat a crazed businessman.
...Well?

From your description it seems similar; but from the sample pages, I cannot see much similarity. :p

Story line sounds similar...But I agree with jeffbert, can't see much similarity in those pages.

"Astro, you must exceed the limitations that humans cannot!
You must be go beyond nationality, ethnicity,
pilosophy, and religion,
starvation and poverty,
and war!
Exceed these limitations created by man!
You must fly high! Higher than any human has ever flown before!
To reach for the future that no human has been able to so far!"

Well, a few characters are somewhat similar to Astro Boy characters. This page features a girl named A.M.I. who is somewhat like Uran, here's a portly man like that of Shunsaku Ban, and it's openly admitted that a character named Jonathon Lewis was inspired by Dr. Tenma (despite the fact that Tenma and Jonathon have virtually nothing in common).

I think if two things where the same one would have to be no higher the 25 percent or it would be copy right. I'm not sure though, i might be wrong.
