We have a few centimeters of snow here in Europe. It was sooooo unexpected, all the traffic is jammed because of this  I can't understand that: we have snow almost every years, but each time a few snowflakes is enough to drain everything to a halt, and each time the first snowflake hit the news as a terrible and unexpected event (even this time although we had been warned for almost a week). Are they anticipating a hypothetical future time when snow will be a thing of the past?
We had planned to leave for vacations today, but instead are waiting to avoid being trapped in a highway.

'Vacation'? I have not taken a vacation in sooo long-- I would like to visit military museums such as Bastogne's NUTS museum http://www.bastognehistoricalcenter.be/index2.php?m=bastogne_en-5-Historical%20Account.

Anyway, I am surprised to learn that Europeans -- you do live in Northern Europe?-- are so intimidated by a thin layer of snow. Late Friday night, it was snowing very heavily, & although there was ample warning, by Saturday morning, more than a few people were stranded in their vehicles. :hyo: So, I can see that if there were a cm of snow and more falling in great density, that would be cause for pause in one's plans of going bye-bye in the car. :D

My brother was stationed in Texas in the Air Force. The people in Dallas drive 70 to 80. But when they got a 1/2" of snow they were doing like 20. lol

Why do they leave the so-called handicapped spaces covered with snow? It seems these are often the last to be plowed! So I went to Hardee's & had a similar meal; I was not thrilled with the Fries, though.

Yummmy! I used to eat at Hardees when the "Burgers were Charcoal broiled..."
