More good news about Astro Boy's DVD sales. Even with the debut of Twilight: New Moon on the DVD sales chart, Astro Boy did well, according to Home Media magazine:
Three other new theatrical releases also posted strong sales and rentals. Warners Ninja Assassin ($38.1 million box office) debuted at No. 3 on both First Alert and the Blu-ray Disc sales chart. Summits Astro Boy ($19.6 million) bowed at No. 7 on First Alert and No. 9 on the Blu-ray Disc chart. And The Fourth Kind ($25.5 million), a horror release from Universal Studios, debuted as the weeks No. 4 rental.

That is a remarkable showing, especially for a movie that had such a hard time at the box office and whose advertising campaign has been skimpy at best. Word-of-mouth has to be responsible for these good sales figures. Keep spreading the word, gang; the world needs to know what it missed out on at theaters. I don't know if the successful DVD sales will help bring about a sequel, but it doesn't hurt.

I think i'm going to hunt down every person i know online into buying the movie =D
Actually, I think that number refers to the movie's original U.S. box-office total, not the total sales of DVDs. Those numbers are almost never released to the public.
