Speaking for myself, I have a good bit of free time, even while taking 9 semester hours of college. 6 of the 9 are from online classes, I only go on-site for the final exams. Being retired because of disability gives me good reason to emerse myself in fun stuff.

I've spend many years sick with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so I've sat through my tapes of the 80s series quite a few times, unable to work or study or get out much. Image I've picked up a lot from the Internet too.

Ironicly, I've only seen 18% of all the Astroboy cartoons ever made and 25% of the comics. It was only a few years ago that I discovered the history of Astroboy extends way back to the 1950s. I've been a fan for about 20 years.

Don't feel like you have to reach a pinacle of knowledge to be the greatest fan, just enjoy whatever Astroboy stuff you can get hold of and be inspired!

I myself suffered neurological damage in 1962 that left me not only unable to control my left extremeties, but as Dr. Strangelove and the guy in "The Evil Dead"*, made my left arm one of my worst enemies. I currently receive both Botox and nerveblock injections to help control the involuntary movement, but it is not as bad as it sounds. I do get around and drive, but my left B) {hip} {edited this word, it was 'his'} B) is bone against bone, and because of the muscle imbalance, hip replacement is out of the question.

I know nothing about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and can only guess at its effect on you. How long can you do stuff before it stops you?

NOTE: enemy was his right arm.
NOTE: When I watched "The Evil Dead", I found myself both laughing and pissed off at the same time. The depiction of this guy's severed arm attacking him was just too funny. But it also seemed to be poking fun at my condition.

I read about Botox as a treatment for my wife after she suffered a dystonic reaction to an anti-nausea drug and had suspected spasmodic torticollis.

So how long do you reckon you'll last on the Botox before you become resistant? Or do they just keep upping the dose?

And do you get as disgusted as me by the use of Botox as a cosmetic treatment?

I can do more stuff than I'm prepared to do, it's kind of hard to explain. Let's say I go for a walk. I could walk for hours and although my legs would hurt a lot more than usual at the end of it, the serious pain doesn't come until a couple of days later. Then it hits me hard and I can barely walk for another week or two. The more I try to do, the sicker I get. I just don't recover properly from exhaustion. I sleep anything up to 20+ hours and wake up still exhausted. Sometimes I have to take rests while brushing my hair cos I can't hold my arms up long enough.

It's like having a flu that never goes away. There's like 50 or 80 symptoms, depending on how you count them. Continual fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, headaches, abdominal pain, light sensivity and visual problems, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, fainting, sound sensivity, sore throat, running nose, constipation, diarrhoea, insomnia, hyperaesthesia, paralysis, sensitivities to chemicals, I can't remember the rest. You get more on bad days. I think memory loss was another one. ;)

I had it just over 6 years as a teenager, then I was well for 5 years and now I've had it again for about two and a half years. My wife's had it for 15 years, and for the past two years she hasn't been able to sit up or eat. I don't think she's even rolled over in bed for a year, but she has other medical conditions too.

The worst thing is when people try to affiliate with things like "I get tired too sometimes."

Still, you gotta laugh.

I am not trying to make fun of your situation, but the best thing I ever did for my hair was to have crewcuts (really short hair). 1st, while I do still have dandruff, you would not know it, because I do not brush or comb my hair, very little flakes fall upon my shirt. 2nd, it is cooler in the summer. 3rd, when I had carried a comb in my pocket, pulling it out often resulted in dumping the entire contents on the floor. The pockets often had loose threads and the comb would often become entangled in the. 4th, I have not spent any money on combs or brushes for 13 years. 5th, my hair does not become messed up. I had liked it really short (1/8 inch), as this was very cool in the summer, but because I have three scars on my skull, and one right above and in front of my right ear, I defered to my mom and kept it no shoter than 3/8 inches.

So how long do you reckon you'll last on the Botox before you become resistant? Or do they just keep upping the dose?

I have a limit of 4 vials (@ $400 each), no more often than every 90 days. Fortunately, the National Institutes of Health is currently having a botox clinic, and it is free! :wahah: I do not know if, at this rate, I will ever develop an immunity. But get this: I had neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins, that killed many of the rebellious brain cells, and releived most of the involuntary movement. The doctor assured me the results were permanant. But they were not. My stupid brain had been in that condition for over thirty years, and thought that condition was normal. Neuroplasticity restored the unwanted condition by assigning other brain cells to perform the task of f***ing with me! :( Now I am contemplating a repeat of the neurosurgery, but have been too busy and poor to do anything at this time.

There's like 50 or 80 symptoms...

That sounds really annoying.

Still, you gotta laugh.

I agree completely! Although I find nothing funny about my condition, and on top of the previously described one, I am now suffering from over the hillness, with joints going bad, etc., if I do not laugh, I know I will be depressed. That is why I love anime, but mainly the funny ones. I am currently in the midst of Tenchi Universe, and laughing all the way through it. I even laugh at horror films. I try to find something funny in whatever I watch, from implausible plot elements to smashed heads. I consider the original Star Trek a comedy. Spock usually says something, that if he said it differently, would not be funny, but with his technological vocabulary, it seems funny enough to me! B-movies and 40s serials are also funny. I laughed nearly all the way through XXX! This film just had more get-aways, and other stunts in the first 20 minutes than all the James Bond films combined! It was really funny. most big-budget action films try to out do previous films' action, and seem just hilarious because of it! I could go on here, but really need to hit the books! :D

I've actually got a mowhawke. But it's not spikey or dyed, it's just the remaining strip of hair over the middle of my head. Not a lot less maintenance unfortunately, but it looks so cool I'm keeping it.

I was at the movies last week and a complete stranger came up to me and asked to take my photograph, simply because he thought I had a cool hairstyle! B)

Interesting thing about shampoo - I stopped using it over a decade ago. I never used anything in my hair after that (until recently), except for washing it every day in plain water. For a couple of months it was really greasey, then it cleared right up. My hairdresser only found out recently I haven't used hair products the whole time he was my hairdresser. He just couldn't tell. I figured that mankind must have gone without shampoo for thousands of years and can't have had hair that was THAT unmanagable.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with long hair (gets too greasey), and I've had to start using shampoo again cos I got dandruff after getting a mowhawke.

I want to keep my hair, so I use only Baby shampoo. I figure it is the mildest thing to use, and therefore, it ought not to hurt my folicles.
