Title: "Katamari on the Rock"
Artists: Yu Miyake and Masayuki Tanaka
Album: "Katamari Damacy Soundtrack (Katamari Fortissimo Damacy)"

Katamari Damacy was a PS2 title in 2004 by Namco. The basic plot is this: The King of All Cosmos went on a drunken rampage and destroyed over half the universe. Now it's up to his son, Prince, to go to Earth and roll a sticky sphere called a Katamari on objects of all sizes (tacks to gods) to form giant spheres that can be turned into stars and constellations (and even reforming the Moon). For the most part, it was a cheap $20 release in America because Namco feared Americans wouldn't like the massive Japanese quirkiness. But, lo and behold, it became an instant hit in both Japan AND America. Shocked by this, Namco released, not one, but TWO sequels only a few months apart! "We Love Katamari" for the PS2 and "Me and My Katamari" for the PSP. According to the creator of the series, the series has officially ended. But, with it's off-the-wall humor and wackiness, the Katamari series will be remembered for years to come.

I ADORE the music of this game. Lol, I know I said I wasn't a big gamer, but I've actually played this one. The first thing that caught my attention was the music. It's weird, wacky, and just plain addictive! So much fun! (the game isn't too bad, either... ) This song is amazing. So many addictive elements. Oh man.... good choice! Great upload today. EVERYONE DOWNLOAD IT!!!

Because I had nothing planned for today, I think I'll go along with mr skunk's requests (ok, one of them. I need to do research on Fatal Frame).

Title: "Hyrule Field Main Theme"
Artist: Koji Kondo
Album: "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Original Soundtrack"

This game, released in 1997, was THE game to shape the Zelda series into what it is today. The series started off in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System and 1987 on the NES in "The Legend of Zelda". The series went on to do things like a cartoon, cereal, an appearance in the Captain N cartoon, a side-scrolling sequel, a SNES game, a Gameboy game, a game where you could play as Zelda, and two games with a Link with lipstick, but none exactly defined the character as a major icon in the gaming world. At least, not until this N64 game. One major change was his look. Before hand, he looked like a elvish Pinnochio. But, the theory is that someone on the game, during the early stages, went to see Dragon Ball Z movie 13 (coming to the US this September, by the way) and saw this guy:

Oh yes, I went there. Both look similar. Both have an ocarina. Coincidence? You be the judge.

So, anyways, the game featured new designs for the characters, new weapons and items, a HUGE 3-D world, a serious storyline, the first 3-D game to go through TIME-TRAVEL, ect.

The series went on to a remake of the Gameboy game, a N64 sequel, an apperence in a N64 fighting game, TWO Gameboy Color games, an apperence (this time with Zelda/Shiek and Ganondorf) in the gamecube sequel to the N64 fighting game, a Gameboy Advance version of the SNES game (which included a new game as well), a Gamecube disk with OOT and a harder version of it (which was originally meant for the 64 Disk Drive), a Gamecube disk with both NES games and both N64 games, a Cel-Shaded Gamecube game, an apperence in the Gamecube version of a fighting game completely unrelated to the other two fighting games, a full-blown Gamecube sequel to the game that was included in the GBA version of the SNES game, and another Gameboy Advance game, but none have come close to the impact the N64 game had on the series (ok, maybe the cel-shaded game, but more so the complaints it got for it's style (I mean, I thought it was better than the N64 game!)). Some hope that Twilight Princess, the upcoming Gamecube/Wii title, will make as big an impact, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I felt this piece summed up the series nicely. Innocent, yet a feeling of epicness and a heroic feeling.

Even the Dic Link's "Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEE me Princess!" sounds better that that.

You know what, an full MP3 of "All the Right Friends" by REM or not, I'm posting this.

Image

Title: "Elecman's Stage"
Artist: Capcom
Inspired by: "All the Right Friends" by REM
Album: "Megaman Official Soundtrack"

Published in 1987 by Capcom, Mega Man was about to be one of the stars of the NES, but not for a year. The original Mega Man wasn't very well advertised, the box looked unwelcome, and the game had it's share of problems (and it had a "Astro Boy feel" that non-Japanese gamers that age weren't. No Passwords and no way to regain health were two things that made this game inferior to it's sequels. These things were fixed in the "Mega Man Powered Up" version of the game. The music of this series is possibly the greatest of all 8-bit music, and this song is no exception. However, it may not count as ALL 8-bit, as MMHP has discovered in recent years that this song is based off of the REM song "All the Right Friends" (can't find a free MP3 of the full version, so I'm using the clip that website had). Compare the two and see how similar they are. You may be surprised. ;)

Wow, for my first time using words as links, I did pretty good.

If you notice, I only covered the first game. *Hint Hint* ;)

I will put one too, I hope I won't be bothering :p

During recent weeks, I have been playing a lot Civilization IV. And what is striking is the beauty of the introduction theme, which is played as soon as the game starts.

The introduction theme of Civilization IV (3.3 Mb).
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Nah, it's not bothering. I probably wouldn't have covered that series anyways (since I know hardly anything about it)! :p

Anyways, I'm still not sure of what game to cover today anyways!

(We Love Katamari, Mega Man 2, and Fatal Frame are the ones on my mind right now)
