Some of the lines are kinda of corny, even for the American Astro version i don't think Astro would say words like gagoo

I wanted Astro to have a little bit of wisecrack in his character. The "Goo Goo" remark was a crack on his age, though he's 12 or 13 in looks, in real time he's 1 to 2 years old, hense when he's asked to "act his age." He cracks a jab.

Now why can't fans like us draft a script and get someone to run with it? You'd think the fans, who know the characters more than most, could craft something cool.

Sadly, that's not the way Hollywood works. I can think of only one instance that I've heard of where a non-professional, fan-written script was actually professionally produced, and that was for the old cartoon series Tiny Toons. Some fan wrote a script called "How I Spent My Summer Vacation", and sent it in as a joke, and somebody working for Stephen Spielberg somehow saw it and it did get made into an episode. I remember reading a news story about it, and I thought it was pretty awesome. But that was a very rare exception. Scriptwriters for Hollywood movies are always part of a guild, and about the only way outsiders get their work produced - aside from the Tiny Toons miracle - is when their books get optioned for a movie. Otherwise, screenplay production is a closed shop.

But I will say this - the internet has changed a lot of things. There are people who have created videos for Youtube that have been offered professional contracts: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Sam-Raimi-Panic-Attack-Alvarez,news-5388.html So maybe if you found yourself an artist - a good one - to illustrate your script as a comic, and if you posted it somewhere, it would get seen, and then, who knows? Of course we have to remember that the first film was not a blockbuster, and that seriously hampers any chance of a sequel. But we can always hope...

The film aside, alot of external conditions came up at the wrong time to put a bite into viewership. Summit didn't do a good job in promoting it.

Actually there's something else Dragon too. The internet is really an insight into people views.

A few years ago I was on a kh forum site when Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix came out in Japan. There was huge uproar by fans on there because of an exclusive Japan extra game 'Chain of memories' remade in ps2 format coming with Final Mix. Threads got posted up of peoples views about wanting the game brought over seas, even people e-mailing Square Enix asking about a english release, heck, even I e-mailed them.

Sure enough, a while down the line, the remake of Chain of Memories go released for America or so forth.

What i'm saying is, big game makers like Square Enix & Capcom, they keep an eye on fan bases, forums and websites on what people say. Though Imagi might not be as successful as Square Enix and Capcom, and are film/tv-series based, you can sure somebody from Imagi is taking a peak on sites likes this just to see what people think of their movie.

So...*starts jumping up and down waving dannavy85 script* IMAGI MAKE AN ASTRO BOY 2!!! >.< FANS WANT IT!

Hear hear! And if Imagi/Summit spies ARE watching this site, they should also take a peek at Twitter. I lurk there, as I've mentioned, and if you do a search there for "Astro Boy", you'll see lots of positive comments about the movie. Many people there are surprised by how good it is, and overall they really love it. It's been compared to Iron Giant, which apparently was another very good, little-viewed movie. So again, who knows what will happen in the future?

oh i get that, i just don't think the IMAGE Astro version would say that he's more of a joker then his manga or anime versions but he is also very brilliant and knows not to make a fool out of himself  cause he's cool.

A re-write of acts I and II

Act I
“Schoolsanity”

Scene: It’s another morning in Metro City and Professor Mustachio is taking the morning attendance of Grade 7.

Mustachio: Kenichi?

Ken: Here Teacher.

Mustachio: Tamao?

Tamao: Here Teacher.

Mustachio: Shibugaki?

Shibugaki: (waves hand) Yo.

Mustachio: Astro?

(Silence)

Mustachio: Astro?

Scene: Astro comes crashing through a window, flies across the room, slams into a wall and falls onto his hands and knees shaking his head.

Astro: HERE!

Scene: Astro rockets out of the room and tangles with the monster from the movie adapted comics. He gets knocked around but finally wrestles control of the monster and catapults him clear of the city and into a whimpering retreat

Astro: (wiping hands) next time you want to visit? Call first!

Scene: Astro returns to the school, flies into the wrecked classroom and casually sits down, much to the dismay of his teacher. Mustachio’s eyes bug out when an overhead light fixture crashes down in front of his desk.

Astro: uh….I guess I overdid it…(Crash! Wince)…just a little bit?

Act II
Setting a date

Scene: Astro rides with Doctor Tenma through the city after leaving school.

Astro: This “hero” thing’s a lot tougher than I thought Dad. Principle Aki went on and on about how the classroom got trashed. It’s not like I could tell the monster where to throw me.

Tenma: One of the many things you’ll learn about humans son. Sometimes they tend to worry over material values more than their own welfare. But that doesn’t mean they’re not great full. You’ll just have to try harder to limit the extent of collateral damage.

Astro: Maybe next time I should offer to buy it pizza?

Scene: Astro suddenly sees Cora walking out of a store.

Astro: Dad, stop the car!

Tenma: We’re on the thoroughfare Astro, I really can’t…

Scene: Astro opens the window and jumps out.

Tenma: NO! Astro!

Scene: Chaos ensues as Astro, focused only on Cora, plays a wild game of flying dodge ball with passing vehicles only to end up landing in a trash pail attached to a light pole.

Astro: Uh….hi?

Scene: Cora smiles and shakes her head while Trashcan is jumping around and barking.

Cora: Your entrance needs a little work.

Scene: Astro climbs out. Trashcan’s all over him.

Astro: Good to see you too Trashcan. I was going to call you from school Cora but…I kinda got tied up.

Cora: I caught it on the news. It would have been funny if you had a basketball net. Between you and me though? You should try and not use the buildings to play bumper pool all the time.

Scene: Astro walks with her.

Astro: uh…..I was wondering? Would you like to go out Saturday?

Cora: I was going to ask you. We were thinking about Teuchi’s Pizza Playhouse

Astro: That sounds cool! Then how about a movie? You don’t think the gang would mind if….well….if just us two went?

Cora: (smirking) You mean…evade the gossip brigade? We could give it a good try. You know they’ll never go for being left out of anything.

Astro: Awesome…it’s a date then.

Scene: Tenma drives up.

Tenma: Astro? There’s something we need to do before closing time at the Ministry.

Astro: See yah Cora! Here Trashcan, have some bolts!

Tenma: Next time Son, try waiting for the car to stop before you jump out?

Astro: Sorry Dad…I was kinda distracted.

Tenma: Yes…I bet you were.

Review Take 2!

*claps happily and cheers*

*someone random throws flowers at you*

Brillent! A great improvement from the original, the script really works now, even the jokes flow funnier too! (Astro casually sitting down after defeating the monster and the light crashing on the desk left me in stitches! XD)

A I love how you exchanged Elifun for Tenma and improved on the conversation there too. Feels like Tenma is fulfilling his role as a Father to Astro than like the first movie where Tenma's too busy with work to pick Toby up from school. so well done reflecting that. :astro: :tenma:

Now the Astro and Cora scene...*takes a deep breath*....*tackle glomps chu* WONDERFUL! you really captured the moment and had them in character more too! Adding Trashcan in there was sweet, I can imagine Cora taking Trashcan for walkies, (nu don't leak oil on the man!). I also liked the bit where Cora mentioned she caught Astro fighting the monster on the news, and the conversation between them handled well, could so see Astro stuttering on saying it's a date word XD sweet wittle guy.

Hmmm, the only critic i can come up with is really to do with lines now. Tenma saying about Astro learning about humans. If it were say the anime Astro this speech would make perfect sense, but with the movie Astro was built to believe he was human thus he'd prety much think like a human, though he could between the two never know =3

And the other one

Astro: That sounds cool! Then how about a movie? You don’t think the gang would mind if….well….if just us two went?

I'd suggesting change that part with Astro asking if the gang wouldn't mind because it's not something to do ask on date terms. Maybe with Astro asking Cora out (like you did with the pizza and movies) but her mistaking him for meaning the whole group of the them than just the two of them, and him getting all nervious and getting cold foot (or in his case, boots) trying to correct her.

In all (takes your hands with sparkling eyes) *_* i'm so proud of you, you really listened and tuned out this part of the script to something grand. Astro was like Astro, Tenma was like Tenma and Cora was like Cora. Keep up the work dude, well done!

I agree with Alittleacorn. The living with humans thing seems strange because he is "programed" with the memories of a human, but other than that I like it.
