As for the merged episodes the Atlas plot was epic and verry violent to so it got cut but doesn't make much sense since they din't edit any other violent scenes later on.
And it messes up the plot so greatly, the most hilarous thing of that was a short flashback they put in a few episodes later because if you have only seen that part it doesn't even make sense your like WTF just happned
also you don't really get Atlas motivations for attackingI think personally the only reason for messing up the plot so much was because they wanted to cut out all more violent scenes but realised it just woudn't fit together that way it's almost like 4kids with One Piece if you really wanna go that far.
