Better than liking reality shows or watching senseless action shows where there's only action and no substance.

I haven't told many people I like Astro Boy , but no one knows aside from my dad where I live.

Telling friends about Astro Boy? Well, to be honest, I actually have no close friends at the moment.

Same here, there aren't alot of people with "Astro" qualities out there.

However, I myself do not hold back. I will slap bumper stickers and novelty plates on my car, wear Astro shirts, watches and bags. If you don't like it, than I say it is best to pay no attention. Just a few weeks ago I walked by a drunken vagabond and when he saw me he started singing (if you want to call it that) the theme song at the top of his lungs. I still don't know if he likes Astro or not, but he knew the lyrics anyways!

Wow...I'm not sure whether to see that as cool or just plain weird. Not your interests in Astro , but that hobo. Better to be yourself than a fake.

Most friends that I tell that I like anime do not really mind it and since I draw my own , they even like it alot.

Same goes for me for the most part. I'm also a big DragonBall fan, and yet I haven't told a lot of people about my fandom of that series.

Telling friends about Astro Boy? Well, to be honest, I actually have no close friends at the moment. If I told my friends from the past that I did like Astro Boy, most of them would probably tease me about it. They did when they found out I like DragonBall. (Although a couple of my friends did like DragonBall, so I don't really know if they would...)

My family does know I like Astro Boy though. My mom used to watch it a little bit back in the '60s. In fact, for my birthday this year she made me a carrot cake with Atom's face on it. It was very delicious. :D [/QUOTE]
It is great they are supportive of your interests as mine are. Then again, I'm like a second generation Tezuka/Speed Racer fan through my father and mother who fueled my otaku in anime, although I only recently as in last year rediscovered Black Jack through the manga series.

It graciously helped that my favorite channels throughout my childhood were Cartoon Network Fox Kids and the SciFi channel, which aired anime nonstop if not my being a night person watching the Black Jack film for the whole time at 2 in the morning. The Gundam series, Dragonball (Which was huge where I lived alongside Sailor Moon/Pokemon) Outlaw Star, Digimon and the two Shinchiro Watanabe anime series were the best back then. And because of the 2003 anime series , I hated Astro Boy for a few years and Gigantor was not getting any love from me until a few years ago.

While I do have the luxury of close friends, I usually talk about serious issues , our dialy lives and maybe about anime if they are willing but rarely. If they like it , it's good but if they don't like it I only press the issue gently but the focus on what they like and what we share in common. They know and respect me , what else can I ask for?
