The major problem about every 20 years, is that we cannot guarantee that we'll be still alive when a new show comes.
If at least they considered new series without making such a long delay...

Well, the "20-year-delay" has been proven to be a myth. And twenty years may seem like a long time, but it'll come and go before you know it. The older you are, the faster time seems to move for you. This year kinda flew right by for me (and I'm not even twenty yet! :cry: ).

Same goes for me.

Regardless of whether or not it's a myth, I doubt that Tezuka Productions will miss the opportunity to create a new Astro Boy series anytime soon. Keep in mind that the 60's series will be celebrating it's 50th birthday in a few weeks (as will anime as a whole), so it's very likely Tezuka will have more Astro in the works sometime soon. I'd give it maybe a few more years though.

Can't wait. :w00t:

Let's just hope they don't screw it up over here again...
... Assuming it even makes it here this time. O-O;

I'm sure the new series will be dubbed. The last series failed because of poor dubbing and poor advertisement. Fix both of those and the next series should be a hit.

Yeah. Though hopefully, it wont' end up in the hands of someone like 4kids/Toonzai. Granted, they don't have as much power as they once had. But they're still around, and it could be cause for concern.

I'm not saying it will happen, I'm just saying.

OH GOD NO 4KIDS. :cry: Nope. No. Nuh-uh.

All of the nopes. All of them.

Actually, though, I had once read that Kids WB, one of the distributers, did not have very much faith in the series. In some respect, they're right; Astro Boy can be pretty alienating to newer audiences (in the target demographic, at least). It's probably the "half-naked child" thing, which goes toward the reasoning behind his nearly-indestructable clothing in the movie. It makes people uncomfortable, and they may therefore be less inclined to watch the show, or let their children watch it.

Another issue is death, and violence. Granted, there isn't a lot of the former (and even if he's all but blown to pieces, Atom typically manages to survive), but it's still there, and is incredibly important to the plot in most cases, particularly in regards to the main character's origin: there has to be some form of deadly incident in order for this to work.

Violence, however, is much more prevalent; what with fighting (and destroying) other robots, fighting inscrupulous humans, and even staving off the occasional alien invasion.
