Forget about pointless dub names, we got fooled by years due these silly americanizations of Mighty Atom despite the fact there was an "Atom" made first, it doesn't justify the adaptation of everything.
I'm fed up of being fooled by adaptations...

I think it's important to present comments like these as your opinions.

I'm an American, I don't think there was anything "silly" about the 1960's cartoon I loved as a child . . . and still do. It was exciting, inspiring and I couldn't wait to see each episode as it was aired weekly.

Okay, nowadays I can think of Dr. Elefun as Professor Ochanomizu - but I can certainly appreciate as a 10 year old in 1964 that a cartoon series featuring characters with names like that, would have been "too foreign." Maybe not today, with the Internet - but back then?

I remember Epsilon as Photar, too. Toshio, you'll find that people will favor different interpretations of Atom/Astro Boy. What is really most important - in my opinion - is the story, and the characters. If they touch our hearts and add something special to our lives, I think Dr. Tezuka would be pleased, not matter what "version" or what "name" is used.

But I will say that without a doubt, I am extremely grateful for this website, and the contributors - such as yourself - who care deeply about making sure we can learn about the entire history of the franchise.

Now here's MY Epsilon/Photar "wish" for a future adaptation: I'd love them to be TWINS. I could see Photar as the male robot, and Epsilon as his sister - both designed to monitor the Earth's environment.
