How long does it take to crop an image like that?

It took me about 10 minutes, which includes removing the original background via WP and converting the image into a GIF with transparent background.
I assume with Photoshop it probably would take less long, but being the stubborn WP user I am...

It depends of the background. If it's really dark, it can be more difficult, but otherwise, with Photoshop, a few minutes.

If I'm to remove the background of an image with low contrast I slightly lighten it up by using the gamma correction, so I'm able to easily percept the character's lines to cut on. Once the background is entirely removed, I set the gamma settings back to normal so the character regains the contrast it has had before. Just my own way of doing.

With Paint, maybe a little more but probably not much more (Strange Wings will confirm, he is the Paint master here!).

Thanks for the honor, but I'm far from being one. And Photoshop just doesn't pay off for the lousy stuff I use to paste together.

The Astro Boy metal-thingy looks at first glance like a PEZ statue from hell.

LOL, I was thinking the same! It's got to hide some evil badass PEZ candies in there. They will alter your consciousness I tell ya! :d evil:

I know of quite a few people who have said these very words, now each of them are having about 5 or 6 children. You'll never know...

It looks like a bootleg. I've been seeing a lot of products that are just promotional artwork (especially with Sonic and Sailor Moon) being put on stuff like bags and clothing.

You're welcome! I have that issue; there was no muscleman contest, and I guess they ran out of cover ideas. But it was still bad otherwise.
