there was a rackes sent to earth to detory it but astroboy used it powers to sent into the sun along with him...

here is the official Tezuka synopses page for the 60s series

Atom sacrifices himself to save the Earth. :cry: One of the manga details this fate, and in answering the fans' displeasure, (hate to use this word, but-) resurrected him. Here is the official Tezuka synopses page for the manga. In checking it against the actual manga, I find several stories absent, though. :D
