Eps. 59 and 50

[Mistress Ages]

Recently I was given the 2003 eps as a gift and though I adore them there seem to be something missing. Particularly the last two eps. Many oppurtunities for those angst moments I've come to love in any of the past series seem to be missing in this newer version.
Like when Dr. O'shay brings Astro to Dr. Tenma I would think they'd show Dr. O'shay passing Astro's limb body over to a mad man not knowing what he was actually going to do to him.
I could be wrong but the feeling is that something was cut away.
Is it just my wishful thinking?
If any one can help I'd be extremely grateful.
