I watched this one the other day, it deals with genetic recombination, and is thus a likely inspiration for the 2003 version of Time Hunter.

Bagi is a lion cub that was infused with human genes; thus, she is very intelligent, and is able to speak. However, her creators view her as a mere experiment, and place no value upon her life.
