hooray!!! what coup! i cannot imagine how hard it was to finally put this togethr but wow!

you guys prob know all about this, but i just found out madman will be releasing the original 1960's astroboy series box set! i emailed them and they said it will be out in november, 2005. you can pre-order right now the price is $149.95 australian ($112.88/us). the box contains what appears to be all 104 original english eps + restored scenes+extras. also fyi: it is tranlated into eng/jap only and is dvd region 4.

Astro's tan was a lot more pale back then, according to the pic. :huh: His ears were lot bigger and higher too! :P

Thanks. I'm not planning to buy it, but I'm interested in what others will say about it. Who knows, maybe I'll be tempted too. B)

Unfortunately, it seems there are only the episodes which were translated in English. The total number of episodes was 193, but the second half was never translated (as far as I know).
I may be interested in the 1960 episodes, but I think I will wait for a complete release, hoping at least the first half will be translated B)

States that this set will contain 52 episodes, but does not indicate whether they are 1-52. I would like to get this, but have my $$ earmarked for the original language boxed sets.

In related news, "season two" of the 2003 series boxset (6 DVDs, region 4) will be available from Big W on September 14th. This is the widescreen English dub. B)
