Nina from long ago, a fan fiction

Postby astro_mcfly » 19 years ago

I was working on this over my spring break, yet... It's sadly coming to an end. I'll post what I have of this and will continue if it is desired. Thank you, and please, enjoy what I have written. Also, let me note, I use the Japanese names of characters (excepting Astro) which means "Nora" is known as "Robita"

..::Nina from Long Ago
An Astro Boy Fan Fiction by Natalie H ::..
Disclaimer!! I do not own these characters, as they belong to Dr. Osamu Tezuka.
(But Nina is my own)

It was just another one of those rainy days where Uran trashed the house, and Astro and Robita were tired out from lecturing, when a loud BANG on the door rattled the windows.
Astro, who was in the middle of saying something very important to his sister, looked up and dashed to the door. “Hurry!” A voice shouted, which Astro had recognized as Professor Ochanomizu.
When Astro opened the door, the professor, drenched in water, ran inside, followed by someone who was unfamiliar to him. A girl with dark brown hair, who wore a science ministry lab coat over a blue skirt. “I’m so sorry... What’s your name, child?”
“They call me Nina.”
“Well, Nina, I do apologize, and I am dearly sorry about what happened.”
“So am I.” She looked down, hiding something inside a black bag she carried over her shoulder. But something had caught her eye.
“T...”
Her eyes, fixed on Astro, were a brilliant and glistening blue. He turned around slowly and returned her gaze. “Professor, is she a robot too?” A rather confused look appeared across her face.
“Robot?” She whispered.
The professor tried to hand signal to Astro from behind her to change the subject.
She spoke, holding her arms out in front of her, “Professor, may I rest for a while? I am very tired.”
“Yes, you may,” He replied, “but I’m afraid you’ll have to sleep in Astro’s room.”
“As... Astro.”
She fumbled about with the black case, and let it rest atop her hands. “Astro? Could you take this for me? Please?”
“Sure.” He took it from her.
“Wait!” Nina shouted as he walked away. “Can I at least give a proper handshake to the boy I shall be staying with? Setting the bag down on a table, he walked back over to Nina.
“Astro, my name is...” He held her right hand. “My name is Nina.” A tear rolled down her cheek, which was eventually followed by more.
“Nina, are you okay?” She ran off up the stairs and into his room.
“Look at what I found! Ha! It’s sooo old!” Uran shouted as she danced about with the bag she had found on the table.
“URAN! Professor, what’s wrong with Nina?”
“Astro, she’s not from out time. She’s from 1949.”
“A normal person would not believe you,” Astro said as he looked at Professor Ochanomizu, “ but oddly enough, I can tell you aren’t lying.”
“The worst thing is, Astro...” He rested his hand on Astro’s shoulder.”
“What?” he said as he turned his head.
“She can’t go back.”
“But wouldn’t that create a paradox that could destroy the...”
“Yes, Astro. We have just messed with the space-time continuum.”
Uran opened the flap on the bag. “Look! A... What is this, Professor?”
He put his hand to his head, and his puffy white hair shook. “That’s Nina’s camera.”
“I KNEW that!” Uran smiled innocently after she yelled.
“Smile Astro!”
“Oh no you... URAN!”
They ran around the house chasing each other.
“Astro! Uran! STOP!” Professor Ochanomizu yelled.
CLICK.
Uran stared down at the camera, confused, as it made weird sounds. Eventually, the back popped open, and an image fell out.
Actually, two did.
“Wow!” Uran shouted as she grabbed a sepia image of her brother, but when she looked at the other image...
“Brother! I’m scared!”
