Here is something that I have talked about with a few other people about the Pluto manga. Now I do think that the live-action movie might have some potential; but then again Hollywood has developed a reputation for making horrible franchise movies. Now the manga was brilliant and I highly recommend reading it. But if anything hopefully the movie will be a successful adaptation and bring more attention to Astro Boy, I hope.
To be honest, I think instead of a live-action movie, I would much rather see an animated movie of the Pluto. Think of Pluto in the form of an anime film, dubbed in english uncut with the same art style as the manga. Wouldn't you rather watch that instead? I think that would be an awesome idea. Is anyone else feeling the same way?
Which is better Live-Action Pluto film, or Anime PLuto Film?

I agree with ya on that - an animated movie or series would be the way to go. Get Mamoru Hosoda to direct it and BOOM - Pure Gold. I think a live-action film would kinda take away the idea that it's in the Astro Boy-verse...I dunno. A live-action American film just doesn't seem like it would do justice to the series like an animated Japanese film would (BY HOSODA W00T).
(Besides, we saw how poorly the movie did in America - how can we expect much different results from Pluto? Take Astro back to his homeland, boys!)

*dust*
A live-action film might be more beneficial, since more people are willing to watch a live-action film than one that was completely done by animation or CGI. It's pretty much a fact, and I guess we're all hoping that the PLUTO film will do wonders, so we may as well have it go with something that more people (think: general public) will want to see.
But it really doesn't matter to me (unless it was completely CGI entirely), since the character designs are incredibly realistic. It probably is better to go with live-action.

I remember when someone wanted to do a live action Astro Boy movie a few years before Imagi came in I thought it was a horrible idea because I didn't think Tezuka's style in Astro Boy could translate to live action at all.
Pluto could work in live action though since as Dr. Jerk said, the designs are much more realistic.

Yes, that's one of the reasons why this movie has potential. I believe Japan already tried bringing the Tezuka Astro Boy universe to a live-action series back when the 60's series was still on television, it didn't do that well to my knowledge. Now a live-action version of the Pluto manga could be a successful adaption, but it's the hands of Hollywood that's my concern.
I think that an anime movie that has the same art style as the manga that's Japanese produced could turn out a lot better. I'm honestly not sure how the Pluto film will turn out, but it's better than trying to bring Tezuka's Astro Boy to live-action I will tell you that. I don't know who you found that suggested a live-action Tezuka Astro Boy movie, but that person should be slapped.

I don't think there is much debate to this.
Anime for sure.
The obvious answer is Anime. I guess we've all seen just how the CGI film flopped, and how badly it looked (Tenma: Exactly, I was a walking skeleton with feathers!). Besides, Pluto is manga in the first place, so we'd want to keep it that way, NOT cgi or live-action.
I believe that anime is the way to go. Let's just hope that they have enough sense to realise that

You know, there actually was a live-action series in Japan. It was around during the late 50's and predated the 60's series.

Yes I just mentioned that in the previous post. I'm not sure if it did that well, and last time I read about it I don't think it did that well. I do know it was around 1950's-1960's something around there. So Japan has tried bringing Astro into live-action before, a long time ago.

"Astro Boy8629" wrote:Dude, why would you ask a question like that? Ofcourse the vote would be unanimous for an anime Pluto film. The only people who would rather see a live-action film are the people that are making the movie and I'm not even sure if all of them would prefer live-action over anime.
i think it would be CGI with live action.but those who would go for the live action version of a manga series either has no taste or just goes for the fun of it.I prefer it be anime becuase for starters we all know the history of anime and or manga turning live action
