Westbury Detectives - my new webcomic

Postby Fauna » 14 years ago

I don't know how many of you follow my artwork, but I'm working on a new webcomic! It's set to have four chapters, and it's so far one of my best projects. I've actually been working on it since I was twelve years old, and this is only the final version. I'm actually considering getting a colour cover together and pitching this to a graphic novel company once it's all finished.

Detective Jack Arthur is temporarily transferred to the village of Westbury for his own safety, following a shoot-out that wounded his girlfriend. While adapting to the laidback mood of his new agency, Jack is pulled into a rivalry with an up-and-coming mob boss, and struggles with a haunting memory from when he was five years old.

I warn you, there will be a few objectionable things in this comic. There's tons of smoking, a bit of gun violence, and implications of sexual content. The smoking is already present, but the rest of those don't come in until later chapters.

At the moment, the first three pages and a cover are up, so if you're interested, click below!

The site design is kind of clunky, but I'm working on a new design at the moment.

I have to totally thank Dr. Jerk for favouriting the comic, but I was kind of hoping I could get some feedback from the rest of you guys (although I know a few people who have intended on reading it, but just don't have time). I just updated the site with the sixth page (out of thirteen), and we're coming up to the point where the story gets intense.

And what are you kids missing out on? Why, it's sheer insanity! My favourite panel so far:

(I learned from Tezuka that it's best to sometimes throw in light-hearted things when coming into or out of a dark scene.)

This is pretty good, you're awesome at drawing faces. Is there a reason you don't add color? Can't wait to read the next one, I love these types of plots!

Thank you very much! As well, wild facial expressions are easily my trademark.

Now, the colour...with projects like this, I generally avoid colour unless the page is special or a cover page, since I usually have so many details that the colouring process would get complicated.
