Are they any fans of "Watchmen" here?

I just got done watching this movie again on iTunes

I'm sure most of you have heard of this movie. For those that don't know, this movie Directed by Zach Snyder is an adaptation of a comic book mini-series written by Allan Moore. This movie received mixed reviews. This movie I noticed does not speak to everyone. By that I mean it didn't appeal to everyone that saw it. Personally, I think this one of the most underrated movies I have ever seen. It had a very intelligent and well thought out story. It also had a variety of interesting characters. In my opinion I think everyone was expecting a super hero movie with a lot of action, which is not exactly what this movie is.

The original comic book series was written by Allan Moore in 1986, during the Cold War when America was extremely close to Nuclear War with the Russians. Allan Moore in an interview said when this stuff was going on he thought of what the world would be if comic book super heroes existed in the real world, how would things play out.

The basic core of the plot which I think is brilliant is world peace. What events happened and what these characters endured for world peace.

If anyone here on this forum has not seen this, I do recommend giving this a look. It is a very long movie reason being that this is about a broken team of super heroes and it had to explain each character, who they were, what their personalities are, their past ect. And they're not exactly like the Super Friends.

The movie had to explain the Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl, Rorschach, Silk Specter, ect. One thing though, do not let the super hero idea fool you! I do not recommend children watching this film, reasons being that it can be very violent at times and there are some sex scenes.

Also one of the main characters Dr. Manhattan (The big blue guy) is naked most of the time. Do not let this distract you! I think that part of the reason why some critics didn't like this movie was that they got distracted by one the main characters being big, naked, and blue. Then again, a lot of people here had to get used to seeing a boy in only his underwear and red boots

Regardless of this, Dr. Manhattan is still a very unique character. Still though, I do recommend giving this movie a look. I also think people didn't get the plot. I didn't have a hard time following it myself, but there are people out there and their brains can only handle so much.

Here is the main question:

Is there anyone here on this forum that has read the original comics?

I have had a couple of people say that they didn't like the movie because they preferred the comics over the film. Totally understandable, there is a large list of bad franchise movies that I can think of. I have not read any of the comics. I don't know the differences between the film and the comics. Someone mentioned to me that the ending does differ a little bit, but I'm not sure. The comic series was very successful and is considered one of the greatest comics ever made. So I can totally understand where fans of the comic are coming from, but I can't say for sure because I haven't read them. If anyone here has read the comics, I would like to know how they differ. Did you prefer the comics over the movie? Why? So that is one question that I have been meaning to ask. Even if you are like me who hasn't read the comics, please give your opinion of the movie if you've seen it. I'm really curious to see what people on here think of this series.

EDIT: One more thing that I forgot to type. If you haven't seen this movie and you're thinking about it. Do not go into it thinking that it's going to be another Spider-Man, Iron Man or X-men movie.

Also, I mistyped the title of the thread. Could the almighty mods be so kind to correct the grammar in it? Thanks.

The "Ultimate Cut" is one of my very favorite movies of 2009. So deep and beautifully dark. Like all greatest comic stories it explores grandiose themes, such as the creation of godhood, the relevance of life forms in the universe, and just where the line between good and evil stands.

I've seen only part of the "motion" comic that came with the edition of the movie I bought. Didn't finish it yet. But I can't get enough of the movie, even with the ultimate cut being 3 hours and 35 minutes, I've watched it multiple times and never even pause it. It's totally engrossing.
I'm on Twitter.
