They would either have to film any potential sequals at the same time (like with Lord of the Rings), or only film one movie. This is because the actor that plays Astro would age too fast.

He'd have to be the cutest little boy in the world!! And -- here's a question -- would he be JAPANESE? 'Cause manga/anime Astro does not look ethnically Japanese.

To people in Japan, I'm sure he does, and I'd kinda agree too. Sure, he's got huge eyes, but who in the real world have those eyes anyway? It's a cartoon characteristic meant to show more expression and cuteness (in Tezuka's universe, a character's eyes are a lot bigger as a child than an adult).

Astro being Japanese or not depends on what country would be making such a movie. And since he's not the main character in "Pluto", and that different nations is such an important part of the story, I'm really hoping that they use a Japanese boy for him in that movie if it ever gets made.

I do think for Pluto they would have to have a Japanese boy play Atom. I mean why would they have a Caucasian boy play Atom who is suppose to be Japanese? I still hope that Hollywood doesn't screw it up. As for a live-action Astro Boy movie that Isn't Pluto. That I think is a horrible idea; reason being that a half-naked boy with large eyes can't transition well to live-action. Not to mention they would probably make a bunch of unnecessary changes to the characters and plot. I hope such a film never sees the light of theaters. But that's all just my opinion.

I'd prefer a sequel to the 09 movie than a live action, unless it's Pluto then it would be good.

I got a question though, if they did make a live action, would Astro have to fight a massive spider?

Personally, I don't think Astro Boy would work in live action. Some things need to be animated
