HELP! Looking to buy/watch the 2003 series in Japanese

Postby Mr7K » 13 years ago

I've managed to download the first 24 episodes in Japanese, but that's the most I've ever found online.
I've looked around for a DVD and I found one on eBay...it's not great quality and the subtitles are really, really bad.

In the end, I've found what seems to be the official Japanese DVD of the 2003 series on the Japanese Amazon website. The problem is, I think the subtitles are in Japanese, not English :/

The episodes I'm looking for mainly are episodes 45 onwards. I loved what I saw in the English version, and from watching the original Japanese version, I can only assume it's even better. Of course, if it's possible to get episodes 25 onwards, then i'll happily try and do that.

The links to the DVDs I found are at the bottom of this post. If anyone has ANY useful information that could lead me to finding something that would allow me to watch the 2003 series in Japanese, I'll be eternally grateful...I can't describe how happy it'd make me. Thank you :)

Wow, the Japanese DVDs have Japanese subtitles? I did not know this... I never bothered looking much into them because Japanese DVDs are expensive (and I decided to go for Akira Himekawa's Astro Boy manga instead because of that). I have poor hearing, so if they do have subtitles I just might look into buying them also.

Looking at the Amazon pages, it does indeed say "Subtitles: Japanese".

You're pretty lucky to get your hands on at least 24 episodes though. It is going to be expensive buying the whole series from Japan, digital renting is probably better if you're short on money. Videx seems good, most of the episodes are 105yen, which is roughly a dollar. However no English subtitles there, and the rent lasts for 1 week for 1 episode, but 40 days for renting all of them at once.

For buying it on DVD cheap and easily, I don't know any good places. Amazon seems the best?

It's better just to buy the American version for 10 Dollars or so despite the edits and the bad dub it's dirty cheap. :whistling:

Someone would have to pay me to watch that version.

And yep. The Japanese version should be on Amazon, CD Japan, Yes-Asia... No English subtitles though.
