Studio Ghibli Fans

Postby Windswept Cloak » 11 years ago

I am a huge fan of both Tezuka and Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki!

Some famous Studio Ghibli films include:

1. Spirited Away
2. Castle in the Sky
3. Howl's Moving Castle
4. Kiki's Delivery Service
5. Tonari no Totoro
6. From Up on Poppy Hill
7. The Borrower Arrietty
8. Ponyo
9. Kaze Tachinu a.k.a. The Wind Rises
10. The Cat Returns (This one isn't by Miyazaki, I think.)

Just wondering~Is anyone else on the site a Ghibli fan too? If you are, which Ghibli films are your favorite and why?

Ghibli movies show so much about love and life just like Tezuka anime, and all the backrounds are so beautifully drawn. My all-time favorite is Arrietty, though I liked Kiki a lot too. :D

The link to the British dub of Arrietty (The American dub was terrible just like the 2003 Astro Boy English dub if you ask me) is on my FanFicion profile page XD

I really like Arrietty's mother's British accent in that one:

"You've been OUTSIDE again! What if a human bean saw you?"

The Borrowers refer to human beings as "human beans". XD

Not sure why though.

I didn't think the Astro boy 2003 english dub was bad at all. Are you not used to english dubs where you are? That could be the problem. I thought the voice acting was pretty good. (Compared to other Tezuka dubs out there I've seen which I'm not going to name cause then this thread will turn out to become an endless battle. :d evil :) I liked Candi Milo's english voice for Astro. I thought it was cute. I have no problem with the Japanese dub though. I like the Voice acting in it as well, and the BGM is way better. (Ugh! That's the only bad thing about the english dub to me. the Background music is just 70s sounding noises. )

I had no problem with the english dub of the Borrower Arriety at all as well. (Guess cause I live in the US, and I can actually tolerate voices with emotion. If the voices sound dead, then I won't watch it in english dub.)

I actually love both the English AND Japanese dub for Astro Boy 2003~! ^///^
Like tailz said, I like Candi Milo's voice for Astro (kawaii~ <3), plus Milo is my older bro's name. XD
I just wish the English dub wouldn't have gotten rid of all of those cute parts(like Astro chasing Zoran all over Metro City when she was first created)! DX

Yeah, and like the part where Astro boy and his friends were wearing silly looking hats(Though, I can't remember which episode it was from, or even if it was taken out or not. Actually, I don't think it was removed. I think I remember seeing it in the english dub if I'm not mistaken.) Yeah, that's all I remember. My memory is very faint on the 2003 series.
