Even though we have struggles in real life, they are what make stories interesting. :) It's nice to have Astro take a break once in a while, but it would be boring if that's all the anime was about.

And lately I prefer stories that have bittersweet endings. For example, I read the entire InuYasha manga, and I was disappointed that nobody died. :ninja: Throughout the entire series there's lots of foreshadow that this person will surely die, or this person, but it's guaranteed to end sadly for this relationship. But no, everyone got a happy ending. I was disappointed that the expectations that Takahashi set up for the readers did not happen, whether they are good or bad.

You could titled this thread something that was straight to point other than "I <3 Astro Boy!" or something like that, at least.

Wow that was rude

As he said, we have already gotten over that part. We've said what we had to say to Ghost and avatargirl, and out of respect for avatargirl who created this thread, please remain on topic from now on. No need to add anything anymore. Ghost understood.

I'd have deleted some posts in the thread but since, unfortunately, I only saw them after many people had already read them, I left them in. I'm wondering if I shouldn't eliminate everything now.

Well, reading through these threads, I realize that one of the main reasons Astro is my favorite fictional character is because he lives in a world that doesn't always understand/accept him. He goes through what we go through.

All the firepower and horsepower in the world can't keep you from being lonely. All the earnest effort to do good works regularly gets dismissed by insensitive and hard-hearted people. But Astro carries on, and goes forward. And seeing him do that makes it a little easier for me to do that when I have to!

This is so true!!! It is what is moving in him.

In fact, logically, I don't find him to be the most interesting character by himself. I think great characters in fiction usually should have a few shortcomings, but Astro is so logical, so nice towards everybody and so serious about what he has to do that even when he breaks a rule, he has a very good reason to do so, so much that it's hard to fault him.

However, he reaches something really deep down inside me... for the reasons you gave. He's not a human being, but he displays a great deal of humanity.

I also like Tintin, and I find a lot of similarities between Astro and Tintin for these reasons (but I had already written about it here, and in fact reunited both worlds here for the Photoshop thread years ago).

I hope what I said before wasn't too blunt but it is truly how I feel this

I don't understand what you are talking about. In this thread you replied to avatargirl's original post and that was just fine. If you want to tell me of something that happened elsewhere, please send me a private message.
