AprilSeven, I think these two are modeled on Dororo:

Yes, I've read that Manga. It's published by Vertical. It was a very good story, but Tezuka gave up on it before actually reaching a good conclusion. Guess he got side tracked and derailed the story. It's a good read though.

Dororo is the one just to the left of Melmo on the bottom row.

The hair is indeed the Dororo type. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just quite common in Tezuka's artstyle though. Yukio from episode 12 of the regular series also has this kind of hair (and in the manga, I'm almost convinced that he is played by Dororo).

Reasons to have Dororo on mind lately, which all still apply. I've been told the 4th episode of the anime series is almost done being translated too!

Definitely the Dororo character design at least, as we all know how much Tezuka reuses his designs for all his wonderful stories. Dororo was fun (depressing, as usual for most of Tezuka's works) but I can definitely see that somewhere Tezuka lost where he was going with it and it just dropped off... his entire premise unanswered and plot unresolved.

It was still fun though and a great addition to the library.
