The worst we've had here were two or three icestorms in a row, which resulted in about half of the province without power at one point, followed by extremely cold temperature, which was obviously dangerous since without power few people can manage to keep their house at a regular temperature.
There were some injuries and a few deaths but nothing close to what's happening in Australia. At least, we knew our homes would still stand up and eventually life would resume as usual within a few weeks.
I also thought of you, DrFrag, since I knew you were in the south. How are you doing? Even if you personally aren't physically affected, it must be terrible to watch your countrymen suffering.
