Well, it could be possible he could be the first emo. Tezuka created alot of different variety of characters, and anime styles, Princess Sapphire being the first shojo anime, or Astro being in a character design style that's known today as kawaii, and Black Jack could be considered the first real "emo" character. But that's just my opinion. To me, Black Jack is awesomeness!

A currently-thinning breed of teenager that is depressed and wears their hair black or colourful, with one eye covered. At a local event, I'm cosplaying as R Tanaka (a goofy android with black hair over his left eye, see the thread in General Discussion) but all my friends call him the Emo Robot... :d oh:

It's mostly a youth term, so don't feel bad for not knowing. Nowadays, all it applies to are depressed/shady people with hair over their eyes.

I don't think I like Black Jack as much as Astroboy, Princess Knight or Kimba. But I certainly don't dislike him.

I prefer the action and adventure of other Tezuka stories, however every once in awhile I like to look at a Black Jack story. Pinoco is such a cutie. You cannot deny that.

Thanks! So it's not an acronym for something else. I thought the look you describe was known as "goth" -- I feel so old sometimes but do like to keep up as best I can!

BTW I like the colorful hair thing. If I were a teenager I know I'd do that. Looks kinda silly on a woman my age though. I could be Mrs. Ochanomizu!

Ooh, I'm young and I didn't even know what Emo was.
I would like to have hair like Black Jacks, but my mom probably wouldn't let me get it cut like Black Jacks. (Oops of topic. O_o ) :d oh:
