Good point, AprilSeven; though we ourselves may not be able to retrieve certain memories, does not mean that they are gone. The '03 depicted Atom remembering things that actually shocked him, as he had no idea that those events ever happened. This is a real phenomenon, when exposed to these RETRIEVAL CUES, we may surprise ourselves with the memories that finally surface.

On the other hand, some 'therapists' lead people to believe they had suppressed traumatic memories and only through this 'therapy' can they retrieve them. Their parents or other trusted adults are shocked when they are accused of having done certain things to these people. It turns out that the 'therapists' had used suggestive techniques similar to leading the witness & that certain people are especially susceptible to them. Studies have proven these so-called therapists are charlatans, and that their techniques are pseudoscience, that is, fraudulent. Yet many of those who participated in this so-called group therapy continue to trust its results.

Human memory is far more complex than most realize. We unknowingly distort our memories, though we tend to regard them as incorruptible. But would scientists actually model AI memory on human memory to that extent? :p

Exactly! I feel -- in Pluto, at least -- the scientists have unintentionally replicated the metaphysical complexity we all experience as humans. Tenma thought by incorporating 6 billion personalities in one being, he would create the perfect AI. When it didn't respond the way he anticipated -- he introduced chaos -- and got a reaction (a survival instinct?).

But notice how, upon waking, Atom was "talking" to the other AI's who had "died" -- what was that? "Ghosts?" I've seen too many unexplainable things (such as my brother, as a small child, pointing and asking where a light was in a particular room in our home. We gave him paper and crayon, and he draw a rough, but accurate image of an overhead fixture that had been removed almost 20 years before.)

I've always a "collective consciousness" exists -- which could explain why I would shout "Achtung!" from my playpen when I wanted someone to get me (no one was teaching me German!)
