Tarantulas, are they good pets?

I'm curious are they like a cat or a dog? Or are they mindless wriggling creatures people fear so much? I've never owned one myself so I have no idea what they are like. But since Tarantulas can be so HUGE there must be some brains in there, thus feelings.

One thing that gets me is you NEVER see them on a tv ad for homeless animals. It's always a cute puppy or the big eye kitten, no Tarantulas! Are they truely mindless living things, or are they merely misunderstood wuving creatures.

Lets take a look at Suzi and find out.

Now are you telling me this wittle darling isn't even remotely cute!?

I actually like tarantulas, as long as they're benevolent, i.e. not the breed that plans to eat my eyes.

Sort of on-topic here, but when I was nine and on a class trip to a farm, I found there was a tarantula in the landowner's bug den. So, the first thing I wind up asking is if she could put it on my head, which was okay for me because I had a hat. I wound up having it on my head, and all the other girls were screaming, but I felt the tarantula seemed to be trembling on my head.

So, since then, I've believed most tarantulas are actually nice guys.
