The 1980 Astro Boy series - 30 years old.

I'm surprised no one's made a peep about this. October 1st will probably be a historic one. 30 years ago on that date, the first episode of the 80s color Astro Boy anime aired for the first time.

How time flies... But maybe it's time we started celebrating 30 years of the Astro Boy anime that this site is synonomous with. May I be the first to do so. Happy anniversary.

But seriously, thirty years? The animation holds up as something that looks like it came from only 1986...but then someday that'll be thirty years ago, too. I'll make a commemorative Astro Boy-themed birthday picture this weekend.

Nice picture (although you had to hide your identity). I already have 19 out of the 23 mangas already! Here's an interesting story. Almost exactly a year ago, I sewed an Astro Boy doll because I wanted to do it in celebration for the release of the movie which was coming soon, and that led to the start of a whole collection of my hand sewn Tezuka character dolls I have now. All the grownups say that my dolls were so well made, they looked like I bought them rather than I made them myself. I was surpirsed they were that good!

I know, back then....wait, i wasn't alive back then ...I'll just say then, animation has come a long way, I doubt anyone thought there'd be a 3D film like Toy Story but it happened. Give it another 30 years and something else will come along. x3
