I think a cool story line for a sequel would be; a competitor of Dr. Tenma or a scientist that doesn't like Astro, builds a robot with similar to Astro but with a different power source. Then the robot is sent out to either frame Astro by ruining the city, or just to go out and try to destroy Astro.

That would be Dr. Baribari & his robot Cleopatra, but Tenma only appears in the manga version, & Cleopatra was not physically similar to Atom. However, they both had to defy their creators.

Several evil copies of Atom appeared in the manga & anime. In the Robot Rocket (Spaceship), Dr. Popov copies Atom's design, makes an evil version with lasers instead of machine guns. In the B&W Atom Vs. Atom, a similar thing occurs, & although the two Atoms fight each other, this 'evil' robot sacrifices himself to save Atom's family from a time bomb. But it is funny that in Atom reborn, only Tenma could repair Atom, despite these others copying him.

Then, in Atom Stolen, adult-sized Atom must fight & destroy the AI that has occupied his original body.
