There's something about her that just seems unprofessional though, from the website and the apparent claim that only one person made her in some basement using just credit card loans and other fees. Things like this usually require a team of people, with hundreds of money and in an institute for the least. Not to mention that a website about an invention like this would look much more professional.

I'm almost ready to believe this is a hoax.

look at the videos section, there is no reason that 1 guy can't build a robot on his own and expect it to work, no law that saies that things like aiko have to be mabe by a university or a bunch of scientests, ok typicaly such things are made by a bunch of geeks in lab coats but it is posible for just 1 geek in his basment to do the same thing, just progresses slower.

I think the guy used existing technology, & merely put it together, though that statement is an oversimplification.
