Walt Disney and Osamu Tezuka
It would be great if Disney became distributor for Tezuka Productions just like they are for Studio Ghibli. However Studio Ghibli provided Disney everything they wanted: amazing animation and movies that are adored by nearly everyone. Most Tezuka animation would not even make money here.

I disagree. I think his work is more sophisticated and ahead of it's time then what US audiences are used to, but I believe once they were exposed to it, Tezuka's works would become Disney for the 21st Century (the themes, the characters, the drawing style).
Look at how huge Pokemon is in the US.

Pokemon is actually a massive video game franchise made by Nintendo that has appealed to western audiences, the anime series was based upon the video games as it gained popularity, similar to the tv series' The Super Mario Bros Super Show! or Kirby: Adventures in Dreamland. Like many people believe its the video games that have gained popularity, not the TV series in itself.
Tezuka Productions isn't that well known to western audiences but Disney is. The '03 series Astro Boy is sometimes considered a massive flop in the U.S., with someone even quoting "Astro has no love here in the states". Which is garbage if you ask me
GO ASTRO!!! XD

In my last post I mainly had the older animations in mind, which I still think would flop if redistributed on DVD today (and Crunchyroll agrees). However, I'm starting to see what you mean, if Disney had a hand in the newer films, like the one for Buddha that's coming for instance, it could be a wonderful partnership...

@Androids -- ohhhhh see I was too old to know exactly what it was -- my friends children LOVED it, and they described it as a game modeled after a Japanese cartoon. Thanks for explaining it.
I dunno, I still feel Tezuka's works would be big if properly promoted. The original 60's Astro Boy series was probably the most successful, and it was allowed to run in a set time-slot for a long time.
