Hey :D

I'm so happy. A friend of mine helped me set up my computer so I can save videos on it and I've downloaded the entire series off Youtube. He's trying to help me work out how to transfer the cartoons over to DVD. Only for myself of course. I'm not planning to sell or distribute them in any way.

It's great to have these videos even if they're not in English. And even though sometimes I do feel like I wish I could know exactly what is being said at some points, it's true you can pick up the basic gist of the plot by the action.

This will always be my favourite of all Tezuka's works next to Astroboy itself. :)

Did you know that the anime finished on April 7, which is, in fact, ASTRO BOY'S BIRTHDAY!!??

A manga revival of the story, titled Sapphire: Princess Knight, by Natsuko Takahashi and Pink Hanamori has been announced

Hmmm, sounds interesting...

This was launched in 2008 however, so keep in mind that this might be false info. It's featured in a monthly manga magazine however, so I have absolutely no idea as to how long it might be.

That's incredible about it ending on Astro's birthday officially Androids. :astro:

As for the revival I remember hearing about it back in '08. If it's true and it becomes available I'd love to see it. However I'm sure it will pale by comparison to Tezuka's original. If the story is done well, it should be enjoyable in its own right.

But I just remembered that one rumour I heard was that the setting for this version was to be modern-day historically. I'm not certain how that would work. Princess Knight is meant to be set in a fantasy era of kings, queens, knights, castles, monsters and magic. It could be interesting but it wouldn't be the same set in a modern day kingdom.

I think the new manga is already out. I might have seen a picture, and it didn't look like Tezuka's art style at all, which is becoming the trend for new manga based on his works.

When I saw this topic I thought it would be about the new Italian box set (first half of the series, second part is coming soon). It includes the original Japanese version with Italian subtitles, which are easy to translate to English instantly using Google! (computer DVD drive required)
I'm on Twitter.
