Take a look here, it's not uncommon for sigs for be the size mine are our.

"Astro Forever" wrote:It was for all images. As I understand it, I think it was to make sure that all the signatures within a page wouldn't make that page take a long time to load.

This website was invented in 2003 wasn't it? Look out the windows, computers have come a long way since then, they process data faster and they can easily manage with pictures on screen. The motivational poster thread is a good example of this. Considering you only have 10 posts per page, that's a shot at 10 signatures (then there's to include pictures being posted at the same time) If the pages were 50 posts each I think you've have a problem, but 10 posts this shouldn't be the case since most computers now are very faster. Mine's 3 years old and it keeps up just fine.

And I wasn't saying make them 640x200 (just couldn't help drooling over it because that is a magical dream...Image)
I just wanna keep the 150 in there is all, but I am open to 200. Reasons being because this is a mixed aged forum, most younger users aren't gonna wanna keep to strict signature rules, in fact most haven't, even the grown ups!

Let's have an example, say a newbie user come on who is 10 years of age. Now they've gone and uploaded a signature (let's say a scary 680x300 or 700x400) now If you go and tell them their signature is way too big and they have to reduce it to 640x100, not only might they not know how to get the correct height, it'd be a huge reduction from whatever the original size of their sig was. The point i'm trying to get across is, they might think they've done something wrong having such a big signature being cropped to 640x100 and not feel welcome back here. (On the khinsider forum they have no restrictions on signatures sizes, but you do not want to go there as they can get insanely bigger!)

To sum it up, this is a family forum not a strict one for growns up only. Kids will often come here to escape stuff that's going on in their lives they don't want to be told their signatures aren't within forum code, and if they aren't they don't expect their signatured to be sandwiched that much. Cause when you're that age, you think big!

So honestly, I'd settle for 640x150 or nearer to 640x200 (like 640x180 or something) I don't know what monitors you're using but on my laptop those sizes aren't scary, (and there is scary out there! scary! o_o). Besides, who wants to stare at the color blue all day? Signatures brighten up the place like pictures on a wall, and they're a way of expressing yourself and for art.

So, please Image don't chop ours cavases to 100  or we'll be out of bussiness!

Edit:

Huuuuuh! I spend an hour on that Mark and you go post before I do? snap! >.<

Meh, scrap all I just said. 640x150! nomnomnomnom  ___

LOOK AT THIS& TELL ME 150 PIXELS IS NOT TOO HIGH

THIS IS A FULL SCREEN IMAGE; ALL 1680 X 1040 PIXELS USED, though it has been resized.

I think that making 150 pixel high signatures is a big mistake; If doing it, at least require that there be no text or even smilies beneath or above it.

I agree with jeffbert it looks annoying, but also think the posts would barely be smaller without the pictures considering the avatars and all. The problem in that screenshot is too many posts where thoughts are not consolidated in one message with multiple paragraphs, but rather spread across multiple separate one line posts as if it was a chatroom. Can you imagine if chatrooms had signatures after every line? Sweet mercy... Well this is what we have here. Of course I know this is not going to change anytime soon now.

There's quite a few problems with the forum right now, in my opinion:

1) People have huge signatures
2) People have been posting just three words in one post
3) New members are intensely rude sometimes

And now, since none of us had properly cracked down on them, the problem users have fallen into habits and are therefore unreachable at this point. If I weren't still into Tezuka's works, and the hateful 4chan-using part of me weren't amused by the lulzier acts of some users, I would have abandoned this forum and never looked back.

It's not you! ;A;

Oh man, I just remembered what I wanted to say before...there's some threads in the Astro Boy Discussion section that make me feel like I'm walking into a dirty, darkened saloon.

And sitting at all the tables, staring at me, are two-word posts.

how about a word limit? like you need to write in more then say no less seven words per post.On MNI (MuggleNet Interactive) they had a rule that you when you posted it had to be more then x number of words per post otherwise it was spam (that understood that part but made sense not to words less then x number of words)

(I'll immediatly downsize my signature once I get to use the P.C., my laptop doesn't have any pics)

That was what I was going to say, I word limit. The problem with that is because sometimes you have something to say, however it is only a few words, so you cannot say that because of the words. Seven is a reasonable limit, however, thats fine with me :)
