Stress and Anxiety

Postby Ghost » 14 years ago

I know I posted a thread similar to this over a month ago, but the thread hasn't had a post in over a month so I'm not going to revive a dead thread. As most of you know about me is that I have and still to this day struggle with depression. I am no longer suicidal like I was a year ago, but I still somewhat am depressed. This is related to that I think. I am a very stressful person, with me it's mostly with school but right now it's with driver's ed as I am turning 16 next month. But I am always really anxious and stressed when it comes to school. I usually try to get the best grades I can, but I am a human being and don't have a calculator in my brain like some people. :astro: I mess up in school and I do end up paying for it. But I constantly find myself stressing over school, mostly grades and assignments. My mother has been telling me for two years now that I worry too much but it's just something that I have had for a while and I'm starting to wonder if it's normal for me to be like this. I'm thinking of maybe seeing a counselor or something so that I'm not anxious all the time. I'm also starting to think whether this is linked to my depression and now I think it's starting to affect my sleeping habits as well. I know this may seem as if this is overreacting, but this is just something that I've had for a while. Does anyone have any suggestions or suffer from something similar?

I wish I could help you out on that one. Honestly, I wish I could stress out a little bit more over assignments since I procrastinate a lot and hardly take school seriously. Just try to relax a little bit more, and I think it might be normal if you stress out over grades and assignments because that probably means that you care about doing well in school. I'm not too sure about anxiety, though. Bad sleeping habits I think can be caused by stress, but not enough sleep can also lead to stress. My sleeping habits have been fluctuating, some days I'll sleep at 3:00, others i'll sleep at 12:30. But that's only from choosing to stay awake instead of sleeping.

What also causes stress is yelling, believe it or not. So when you get pissed off because your team in black ops is getting slaughtered and you curse and yell at the tv, it causes a great amount of stress. It can even cause a heart attack when you're older

Ha! That's one of the reasons why I don't think Call of Duty is that great. I was like that back in MW2 mainly because of commando.

But I will leave that discussion in another thread. I don't honestly know what it is. I just stress out over certain things easily, it's complicated.

You stress out too much, I hardly stress out at all. We're opposites :D

All joking aside, could you give me an example of what you get stressed out about easily?

you and I,AB86, row the same boat but i suggest that you these

1)Sleep.
your brain needs to rest

2)Address your main problems with school
finding out what causes them can help finding ways to help with them

3) talk to someone
it helps and lets someone else give you some more confident and comfort

4) Is it normal?
Yes,teenage stress is normal but if not noticed quickly it can become a problem and can effect more then school but everyday life as well.

And step 5) Don't yell at your tv just because you got killed by a camper, noob tuber, etc.

So anyways, every human being gets stressed out and yes, us teenagers get stressed out the most, but you need to learn to controll your anger and stress. When you get mad, instead of flipping out, try to take deep breaths to calm down. Trust me, it helps.

Well, I don't think I was like this before my 8th grade year. Before I didn't really care that much. But 8th grade was HELL because for reasons I will not discuss, I had to take it online at home. During the first half of the year I was very laid back. How the classes worked was they gave you about usually 30 days to do the course. You do some assignments at home, then you reach the half-way point and take a midterm at their office, then you continue. After that you have your final and you finish that and you have to score at least a D in that class to pass. Then they give you a new class and you repeat. I could not do one class in less than 30 days, I tried and I couldn't. After I needed an extension they were harsh and gave me some detention program for not completing the course on time. Now this I thought was complete and utter bull ****. Pardon my language but there is no other word that I could use to describe how their policies were. Not to mention the teachers at that place gave me no respect at all and they acted like I was some kind of horrible person, it was almost like they were trying to stress me out or make me angry. They would constantly tell me that I have to pass this within a certain time, or they would give me a suspension, or I have to start the class over again. Tell me to pass this or I would have summer school there, or hold me back a year or even throw me out of the program. My entire 8th grade year was nothing but a living hell. It was really a bad time for me. I was always anxious everyday for that year. Expecting a phone call from my online school about something for them to complain about to my mother. I also had really bad insomnia because of this. It was just an insanely bad time for me and I thought I was slowly going insane. This was one of the main reasons why I attempted suicide that year, so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore. That school found out about what happened and I told them that the reason I tried to kill myself was because of the insane amount of stress I was under, the program was not for me and I needed to basically get out of the program. They told me to finish my final course and I was done, and I didn't have to take the program again. They even falsely accused me of cheating on a test before that, which was the final straw that made me attempt suicide. That was in May of this year (2010) and I completed my final course shortly after. I was on summer vacation by late May of that year, the good that came out of that was that I got summer vacation early that year. But I think after that experience, I just have been really stressful. Now I'm in an actual High School and socially I'm doing fine and I have friends like most people. But when I don't complete an assignment I just get this nervous feeling that they're going to hard time, but they haven't.
