All hope is not lost...

Urasawa and Nagasaki both said the Hollywood version of Pluto would be live-action, not animated. There are also a few Japanese companies looking at it for different kinds of releases, but the Hollywood take on Pluto was something I thought we should all hope for...

What!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

First the Astro film, and now this?

Why can't America do anime? And if you can't, find some other franchise to destroy and LEAVE ASTRO ALONE!

GET OFF THE STAGE, HOLLYWOOD!! *throws rotten tomatoes*

I'm a bit confused by your reaction. Did you not know that the movie would be live-action? It's been announced that way since the beginning.

And the reason American can't do anime is... because anime means animation made in Japan. :d oh:

America and many other countries have made 'anime' before, it's just most of them was incorrect. But often when they do it, they hire Japanese companies to animate for them instead.

That's why Thundercats had epic animation.

Yeah, but you could say that Astro is 'born and raised' in America...

I'd say the complete opposite, Atom has lasted much longer in Japan and still continues to do so, whereas Astro's popularity was a 'come and go' thing in America.

You're probably thinking about the art style which is slightly reminiscent of American cartoons from the 40's, well that applied to many of Tezuka's works, he grew up watching American cartoons that his father had somehow bought.

Good find! Maybe they will do an animated movie as well? I'm crossing my fingers for that.

You know, it would actually make an awful lot of sense to release an anime series before the movie. By the time the movie comes out, the manga will not be remembered as much, and who reads manga anyway? An anime would be a great help to boost interest in the movie.

Just like to prepare the release of the Astro Boy movie, they released all 3 anime series on DVD, plus the complete manga.
