Looks like a joke with "actors" to me. In this image, all characters are acting as if they were actors, therefore as if they were "real" people interacting outside of the story. Not sure that I am clear here

"Alittleacorn" wrote:It's actually terrible, Imagi didn't translate ANY of the text into Japanese. I mean how are they supposed to read it and gets the jokes if it's all in English? (like with Grace's hat and the 'he's a robot' written on the floor) It's like when Atom reads the book, the Jap voice actor says aloud "Da vinci" and "Flying machines" just to help, but it's a shame.
They DID translate text, but not the usual way. The 'he's a robot' text is translated in the French version; not with a subtitle, but directly within the movie itself. On a technical point of view, it's only a texture to change, or a shape, depending on how it was done. I'll try to get screenshots later. They did it with many other texts too. I can't be sure they did the same thing for the Japanese version though, as I don't have it.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Hmm... I knew that the Peacekeeper was in the picture, but I don't think I ever noticed Astro in there. I might've noticed the chair, though.
@F-man: Where'd that avatar of yours come from? I assume it's a screenshot...
Speaking of screenshots, I'd very much like to see a screen from Astro Boy in French...

A Jetter Mars manga cover by Shigeto Ikehara, who is absolutely wonderful and well known for making older Mega Man manga series in a style similar to Tezuka's, but not without his own qualities. Funny you ask now, I just finally found the book yesterday (in Japanese), can't wait to get my hands on it.
About Astro Boy, while it had French text in cinemas where I live, I think the Canadian DVD , as usual, did away with it and just used subtitles instead in those scenes. Maybe the French DVD is different.

Sorry for the late, I had some problems with the player refusing to play the DVD :d oh: Fortunately the problem went away ( not sure it is fortunate, it might come back to haunt me later

Anyway, here are the screnshots for the "he's a robot":

And here are 2 others:
