You know the guys who make the Mac computers and Apple Ipod and the dude who made Windows and Vista?
What's the difference?I know that people have electronic and computer program preferences but really when it comes down to it who has the better product for price, overall efficiancy, and comsumor opinion ( what that means is is it popular on a whole)
I never saw real big deal mainly because we have used Windows on our computers and programs and we use Ipods. When It comes to computers if you show me like how to download a program step by step and explain I can understand but is there a really BIG difference in computer and products? The only thing I know about these companies is that the CEOs used to work together at a company and each was free lance computer engineer with different views how to work it

Today there is much less difference between Mac and Windows. They've both copied each other.
The operating systems "speak different languages" -- so it used to be that anything you run on a Windows computer will not "work" on a Mac. However most software companies now produce programs that run on both platforms with a few exceptions (Internet Explorer is no longer available for Mac; Also Microsoft Publisher is not available for Mac). Typefaces are also not compatible unless they are "open type" fonts.
That said, the machines run pretty much the same way. Windows allows you to organize your files and alter the way the windows display much, much more than Mac. Also -- Windows computers tend to run a bit faster than Mac's.
I would recommend purchasing a Windows computer because more people HAVE them, and therefore, you'll have a greater "support system" -- it is notorious more expensive to maintain an Apple computer. The stores are lovely, but you PAY for it!!
I'm not familiar (yet) with Windows 7. My dad's laptop is running it, and I'm not crazy about it because it's more like a Macintosh than ever (not in a good way). It's prettier to look at, but a bit confusing in how it works (you can't control as much). So I guess I'd recommend getting an XP machine if I had a choice!
hope that helps!!

Macs aren't bad computers. It just depends on personal preference. I think it's a good thing that you're upgrading, IMO Vista sucks. Thing is with Macs is I can't stand their Operating System. This depends on personal preference but I cannot use their OS because it confuses the hell out of me, probably because I'm too use to Windows.

I agree with Ghost - if you're computer literate, a Mac feels like "overkill" -- too much is "controlled." My understanding is that Windows 7 is much closer to Mac's current operating system than Windows XP (but much better than Vista -- so at least you're moving in a good direction, AG.
@Ghost -- who is that in your avatar? I'm starting to think you look like him (as I am convince Acorn looks like Cora).

I really don't understand why everyone dislikes Mac
, the OS is great and faster than Windows, but, yeahh, Mac is overpriced
, but the functionality is great
, and I don't need any antivirus software for a Mac
. But I also have both Windows 7 & Windows Vista on my laptop, I personally think that my Windows Vista is faster than Windows 7, Boot time on Vista Welcome Screen only takes 3 seconds

To answer your question: No, I'm not blond. The avatar is the vault boy logo from a video game series called "Fallout"
BTW, how do you know what I look like?

No, I don't know what you look like -- I tend to associate people's names with their avatars (ohhh that i would look like Epsilon!). I just wondered if he was a real character from something (he looks like a "regular" person). I like him better than the hand grenade!

I don't need one for Windows either.
