Dago
A man had found out about the 'computer boy' that was kept here.
A vicious man. He called himself Skunk, which alone tells you too much.
He wanted my body. He wanted my mind. He wanted what he saw me as.
A robot child.
It didn't take much to have my body stolen. Too simple to complete, for what it was. At least now I would be relived.
But he toyed with my body. He changed it. He changed my mind. Not to erase my thoughts, just my memories. He also gave me the ability to cloak myself. I was grateful for this, at least.
But he wasn't very patient. He didn't finish with my mind.
Like any person's, my mind could store everything everywhere. You couldn't just eliminate a certain part, without eliminating the rest.
You could try, though.
Oh, gad, you could try.
I was finally alive again. But what was I?
I had no memory of being Dago. Only a little, I guess. But not enough to know who I was.
Skunk abused this fact. I became convinced of what he thought:
I was a robot child.
A helpful little object that could be used for any purpose.
No matter how terrible.
Well, obviously hated by anyone sane, and not very much loved on the part of my 'owner'. I really was nothing.
I guess I was something, but a terrible something. Which is worse than nothing.
Then Atom showed up. -(Yay!)
Another robot child. But this one wasn't used.
He had his own free will. He could do whatever he wanted. This almost scared me.
There were other robots in the world. But they were always used. Never had I seen one that could just 'live'. Even I wasn't allowed to do that.
Atom was kind-hearted towards me. He knew what I was going through. He had seen it a lot.
I told him it was nothing. I was owned by Skunk. Nothing terrible.
He said a machine like me shouldn't be used. I was too... lifelike. There had to be something different about me.
Some soul-based-programming behind those eyes.
That is what confused me. But it was my life, even if I didn't know it.
Atom told me what Skunk was making me do was wrong. I defended my 'owner' Skunk as I should have done. As anyone should have done. Atom said I didn't have to do this.
Then I broke down.
Atom didn't understand. He was a rebel. He didn't live by the rules. Skunk owned me. That was all. That was my life.
But Skunk had seen me and Atom. I had disobeyed my owner. I had put both of us out in public by accident.
He didn't tell me this. He wasn't the type to do that. He just needed to get me out of the picture.
Then he could get himself a new, more obedient robot child.
Atom could have told anyone. That's what he thought.
If he could get both me and Atom at the same time, he would be golden.
And he almost did. But Atom managed to save me. He wouldn't let me die.
Again.
He had done that for me. He had saved me. He could have just saved himself, but he risked his life and saved me And now it was time for me to return the favour.
Today fate finally gets a hold of me.
