Actually 2 of this 3 movies have been released in Germany i already have cleopatra i still have to get Bellondna this include no english track wich are in German releases like Alakazam The Great if anyone would be intrested on owning the offical version of that movie the German version is the one to get
but yeha comming back to animerama if you can't speak german it's not that intresing i supose than go rather for the expensive Japanese set i cuess.
I can't really speak german myself that good but because it is so much like Dutch i can understand what is going on.
As for 1001 arabian nights it's only released in Japan as far as i know.
As for or i liked cleopatra it was weird but i enjoyed it but it gaves me to think why tezuka had never animated his adult works like Swallowing the Eatrh and MW etc that would have been so epic he even never made himself a Black Jack anime series wich is even more weird considering it was his favourite character.
Has anyone heard of Animerama?

He probably liked it just that way, seeing as he never had complete control over the TV versions of his works not to mention always being forced to work on a tight budget which sacrificed the quality of the animation.
As for Animerama, seeing as you can now acquire subs for all three movies on the internet (but 2 of which come from bootlegs, 1001 Nights included), I would go with the Japanese releases as the best choice of which DVDs to buy.

The name "animerama"
"[...] seeing as you can now acquire subs for all three movies on the internet (but 2 of which come from bootlegs, 1001 Nights included [...]"
Where?????
Tezuka called this films Animerama (1001 Nights, and Cleopatra, not the third: Belladonna, he was not involved in that one), because he wanted them to be "a combination of animation, cinerama, and drama"
I think the reason why Tezuka didn't animated MW or similar is because he had such bad experiences with adult works animation in the past (they wont make any money). Arabian Nights did well, but Cleopatra with a big budget was a total failure.
Cleopatra poor incomes developed a financial crisis in Mushi productions, and this was the main reason why Tezuka resigned in 1971. He even had to put money from his own pocket. I think he learned the lesson.
You can find all this in the book by Natsu Onoda Power Osamu Tezuka, God of Comics.

I'll try to sync the subs by myself now (got to learn how to do it someday :ninja![]()
THANKS!!!!! (you've been of great help)
So it actually didn't sync huh...
Note that Elen McCarthy seems to imply that this movie has lesbianism and crocodile sex, something that is definitely not in the subtitled version I've seen. It was 2:05:09 long for the record.

Well i have met her and this isn't realy true and a interview that was posted here from helen about tezuka proofs that also not to mention the book tezuka the god of manga."pelida77" wrote:Anime Encyclopedia? Oh, you can never fully trust on what Helen saids, (i think she doesn't like anime).
But my version is 2:10:30 So maybe, just maybe, in those extra 5 minutes I'll be able to watch some good old crocodile sexhmy:
(whatever that is)
But i cuess whit the anime Encyclopedia there went here and there a things wrong just by pouting so much difrent information in a book and not do resurch on it doesn't realy help besides she isn't the only one that made the anime Encyclopedia there where more people the blame for it but it has only minor folds it's not that it is filled with it.

That seems interesting: the interview with her, here, I'll check.
Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude; but certainly what I said was unfair. The anime encyclopedia is a GREAT book, and its information is accurate and usefull. The plots are not always right, and the credits are sometimes mistaken; but,it is such a monumental work that you expect this things to happen. Also, I own her "500 essential anime Movies"; and I was trying to get her Miyazaki Book (didn't knew she wrote a Tezuka Book).
It was a silly comment... But is a result of an impression I have everytime I read an entry on the Encyclopedia or on the other book; ... Many of the shows and movies that I happen to like, according to AEncyc are pieces of trash: but, yes, I think we could blame the other guy (Jonathan Clements), or maybe the profession: critics...
