Oh by the way, this symphonic poem soundtrack, while it has Japanese narration over the music on the CD, the narration is replaced with either Japanese or English subtitles on the DVD (so you can enjoy the music alone, as it should be). I actually had ordered this with my other DVDs recently. I think this is the only Tezuka DVD I know from Japan that has English subtitles.
wasn't that series supose to have 52 episodes instead of 26 ?[/QUOTE]

Oops. Ah well, JSDVD still has the Taiwanese release.

All right, I've split all the offtopicness. We've now got a shiny new topic to talk about this.

I have a question for jeffbert... You said once on Tezuka in English that your copy of Last Mystery of the 20th Century had forced Chinese subtitles. I was wondering what copy it was exactly? And are you sure you didn't buy a VCD instead of DVD?

I have the Taiwan DVD which is pretty awesome with no forced subtitles, but I'm wondering if the other one, the Hong Kong release, is really all that bad.

Yes, I just checked it again, & found no way to remove the subs. There are very few menu options, but they seem to be language selections. As the program runs, the pull-down menu on POWERDVD has its subtitles item grey, while LANGUAGES does select either Japanese or Chinese.

Can you link to which DVD/VCD you bought exactly? This has made me quite curious about which one exactly I should not recommend to people. And if it's a VCD, it would explain the subtitle issue, as VCDs can only use hard-coded subs.

But if it is a DVD, I hope this isn't a common practice. I'm thinking of getting the Hong Kong DVD of Ravex, for example...

So that confirms it, Taiwanese DVD is the way to go.

Aniway as soon as i have my money on my virtual credit card i'm going to go for some Taiwan releases like the Triton Movie and Jungle Emperor Leo 1989 series already seen it is going to cost me only 40 bucks (including shiping to Holland) to get all that stuff these taiwan releses are dirty cheap.
