I don't know about you guys..but junk food...AB..and AB fans sounds like an awesome vacation to me! lol Whats everyones opinion on this? Just a 'what if' question by the way.

Just the thought makes me really shy, but I think I would join, it could be fun. :) (Ooops, I'd have to speak English then... )

The problem is, obviously, that we live so far from each others. :d oh: Only one person here lives more or less close to me.

I can think of two here, but I don't know for sure if they already knew each others before joining the forum or not. Other than that, not anybody that I know of.[/QUOTE]

Some years ago, a currently inactive member made a thread that asked if there were others in his area. I was 10 minutes away, we met, & he began sharing his massive collection with me. We alternated meeting at his then my house. This was the start of my own collection, As I had known nothing about pure Japanese anime before then. :D Then, I said something wrong, he was offended, & that was that. Apology accepted, but-- :( He even left the forum.

That's why it's sometimes best to leave well enough alone. I work with people nationally via phone and internet, I met up with one person once and our rapport changed quite a bit after that. :shifty:

Ooops, I knew you had met another member, but didn't know if it was before or after joining, and never knew how it ended. :(

Interesting. I rarely meet people I've met online, but so far, the few times I did, I've never had a bad surprise, even from one who I knew was very different than me in real life - it wasn't better nor worse than I expected. It didn't change anything online afterwards either. I usually don't have any expectation either (not to say you did, Novacain, I was just speaking in general).

What jeffbert described could happen between two friends in real life, too.

I don't think it ever was safe to begin with. I know that not everyone on the internet is a pedophile, serial killer, or whatever. But you can't be too careful. You just have to keep in mind that ANYONE can get access to the internet now a days.

It would definitely be interesting to meet you all I will admit.

@Astro Forever.

You speak French? I will agree with the others that your English (in text at least) is very good. I can't even imagine learning a second language. That must have been tough.

Glab: if you meet them in a park at midnight, perhaps not, but is it worse to meet somebody with whom you have spoken with online than to take a bus, enter a store full of strangers or even a college classroom?

I'm absolutely not saying that it's something to take lightly, in fact I'm super careful about what I post online to begin with, but it doesn't mean it's extremely dangerous either, if one is careful.

Thanks. It was though. I was, like, the worst student in English class when I began in elementary school, and had to work extra hard to catch the others (I eventually did at some point in high school).

That would certainly be interesting to meet you guys. I'm kind of shy in real life though, so I would be one of the quieter ones during a get-together if we ever did one.

@GLAB - It depends on the person really. My mom had a good experience with meeting someone she knew online.

Like Ghost said though, you can't be too careful.

OR

We can travel up to Montreal or Quebec (I've long wanted to get back to Canada :)

Living in New York would be so great right now, so I could attend the American premiere of Osamu Tezuka's Buddha: The Great Departure on the 7th. But on the 7th is also the day that the line-up for the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival gets announced, and I think we can expect the Canadian premiere for that film. If so, I'll get there, not a single doubt about it.
I'm on Twitter.

Sounds like a challenge  . Who can be more shy me or Shiyonasan? I am called a man of few words, and sarcastically called "Mr. Enthusiasm" for my lack of a change in the tone of my voice and my ability to show a small amount of enthusiasm in a very exciting event (although, it does depend on what is happening). Small-talk with others that I had just met is not something that I can make often, so more often than not I just remain silent.

I also agree, I think it would definitely be interesting if we were all to meet. Different sexes, ages, sizes, ethnicities. It would be a big diverse meeting all brought together by one little robot with two horns and in red boots and trunks.

One day..I think we shall have to try an attempt this. O.o Virtually since everyone lives so far away from everyone else. ^^; I think the only people living in the deep south are me and Avatargirl. lol I just imagined us all meeting up IRL in Vegas and having a hangover moment. Looking for that one lost person who couldn't find their way out of a really big Wal-mart. XDDD
