About Triton, something you may want to know (at least I wish I had known) is that while the series and movie are sold separately in Taiwan (and the series is hard to find now), they actually come packaged together in Japan, and (this is the important part) the Japanese set also includes the pilot, which the Taiwanese set does not.

Anyway, at least in Taiwan there are English subs (though they're pretty bad) but you could download them from the net too. I still decided to order the movie from HK some weeks ago to know if it had better subs (that wouldn't have been uploaded online yet), but I still have yet to receive it. yesasia sure is slow.

Only problem being YesAsia canceled my 2 tezuka movies so i have to go for the 1983-1989 24 hour set it seems available being re-released in 2009 but i'm not sure just have to find out when yesasia refunds my money i really gotta spend some less money with cons coming up so i can spend there more :p

Good luck, as most of them are bootleg over there. But if there were pictures clearly showing that there are 5 DVD cases inside of the box and/or there's a booklet, you should be fine.

I got a bootleg of that series myself from Yahoo Auctions Taiwan before... at least I only lost 20 dollars, and gained lots of knowledge out of it. :p After that I decided to aim for the R2 set instead because of the pilot.

I have the R2 Triton set, & looking at my notes, see that there seemed to be two identical extras, which I assume were or are the pilot. Can you enlighten me on these/this, F-Man?

Amazon says it has this extra: 劇場版特典【約9分】幻のパイロットフィルム『青いトリトン』収録 (Phantom pilot film [about 9 minutes] Movie Awards "Triton Blue" recording) which seems to match with this.

Finally got my yesasia order... which admittedly took a while because of the Canada Post strike. I was so glad to see I got no import duties on arrival, so I'm probably done with using Amazon Japan now. I'm going ahead and ordering Ravex from Hong Kong and the Princess Knight musical (the latter has subs online).

So I can confirm the R3 DVD of Kimba 2009 doesn't have burnt-in Chinese subs, which is all I wanted. It has really cool artwork all over the box too, with the inside comparing Tezuka and Amano's different Leo designs.

The HK DVD of the threatrical version of Triton of the Sea has the same translation as the TW DVD...

Preface This film is reproduced by
the film director MASUDA TOSHlO
of the series of TV cartoon Triton of the sea
As for me by means of this classic cartoon
to know the dreams towards the furture
which Triton never gives up
and the courage to face the real life
is my favorite part and life issue
Producer NISHIZAKI YOSHINOBU

I'll be happy to sell at a discount either the TW or HK DVD to anyone who wants one.

I should have got my Triton set today if not for the fact that nobody was home to sign it on the given time i should proboply recieve it towmorrow.
An my order from Taiwan is aparently already shipped they alreday charged my creditcard so i should receve that soon also.

I think about a break after that and safe some money for a coming con in August and after that continue the hunt for Tezuka anime there just some titles you just have to pay some more for to still get them though it's a shame and they apparetly dont have a problem selling most of Tezuka's manga that's basicly where tezuka productions runs on these days they din't even made the Buddha movie by themselves

though they still do ocasional rereleses when the time comes along tezuka would have been 100 years old or even 90 it's proboply going to blown off again but still now i think about that tezuka sad he would continue till he went 100 but yeha what can you do about it ....

I actually found the Phoenix live action movie from 1978 with English subs with the fact in mind that it is only still available in Chile so verry difficult to obtain.

How do the subs start?

Like this:

Around the year 180
after Christ

Frontier

Or like this:

Around the year 180 A.D.

Boundary

First one is a machine-translation of the Spanish subs, second one is the official subs from the 1982 VHS tape released in the US... I found someone who may lend it to me so I can extract the subs.

(I had to edit your post a bit; we're revising our rules about copyrights, becoming a bit more strict)

But yeha now i think about is as long as you refer to Kon Ichikawa this movie is still easily to see that's a verry common thing with movies i seems so this was a sort of robot translation when i found it i kinda freaked out and wanted to share it here but it wasn't such a rare find after all.
