They are mostly industry people who scam the artists under them or are indie artists. From what I've learned, the artists at those labels only make their money from gigs and a small percentage from albums.
It most certainly is a controversial subject! Almost as touchy a subject as religion or politics.

And when they try to limit and cripple the ways you can use said music/media , overprice it (If it's not in a package and no manufacturing or shipping), and or exclude certain tracks from digital purchase, it's a given people will turn to downloading instead of buying it .
Well said!
Now, I don't personally know about the exclusion of tracks and all that stuff mentioned since I would
never download something from the internet that is not rightfully mine...

...but I do agree with your point of view.[/QUOTE]
Technically if we go by the rather authoritarian point of view , no one owns the music except the companies who can snoop your computer and delete it whenever they want . But since music people aren't as much of douches as Amazon with their ebook purchases ( and how they tried to take the audio versions out and discriminate against the blind) or like Apple with their iOS system, it's in a far better place than it was. I still crack up when they bemoaned the VHS and how they could make bootlegs and than whine about digital distribution. They need to face it they are old dinosaurs who do not know how to market or sell anything for a reasonable price and that they should learn to go with the times. Besides wasn't copyright law made to protect the artists and others like them ? I swear if you do anything creative and you have even a slight of an ounce of inspiration from anything , you're gonna get sued these days ,watered down or just plain bashed for doing anything you like .
