Special Reminder - reporting forum problems!

Postby AprilSeven » 14 years ago

Hi everyone,

Sometimes it's easy to forget that Astroboy-Online is, after all, built upon
computer software . . . and as we all know, occasionally THINGS GO WRONG!!

Recently we have had occurrences of members not being able to post, or a thread may seem to be "locked."

If you happen to run into a situation like this, DON'T PANIC!

You will clearly be able to see if a thread is "locked" and you will see a comment made by one of our moderators on the last page announcing the "locking" of the thread. You also will receive a private message (PM) from a mod if you have been banned or blocked from ABO in any manner.

Otherwise, if you have any difficult posting, it is very likely you have encountered a "glitch" and will need to report it so we can fix it as soon a possible.

The best way to do this is by clicking on the "Report Post" icon below your avatar (the triangle with the "!"). Simply tell us what the problem is, send it, and EVERY MODERATOR will receive the message immediately by email!

This is much better than sending a PM to a single mod. In case you guys don't know, all the moderators, and Mark, our administrator are volunteers. We really care about ABO, and all of you. All we ask in return is you help us keep everything running as smoothly as possible. Let us know if something isn't working properly. If we don't respond right away, please be patient, and trust that we'll be there to help as soon as possible.

Thanks, from your faithful forum moderators! :astro: :heart: :astro:

Yes, very nice to see that you guys are on top of this. I haven't noticed anything myself lately but if I come across a "glitch" I'll be sure to let you guys know by reporting it. Keep up the good work April.

Some text is ITALICIZED, while most is not.

This may be the wrong thread, but when quoting, why is the quoted text entirely italicized? If the quoted text had an italicized text in it, its significance is now gone!

@Jeffbert - about that ital problem: here's the way I was told to deal with it at newspapers I worked for -- the photo captions would be italicized -- was to UN-italicize the formerly italicized copy. The result is the "emphasized" text stands out as opposite from the rest of the copy.

This is a test, you see?

So I must manually add tags to the quote??

I agree it's annoying, and I had noticed it a long time ago.

I thought it was the same with all vBulletin forums, but no... I've just done a test on another forum. It must be the settings Mark chose. Why don't you suggest him to change that? :)

I was thinking the same thing as AprilSeven. Mark would need to implement something in the CSS.

Code: Select all

.quote i {
   text-decoration: normal;
}

My web coding is as rusty as it gets, so text-decoration is probably the wrong property there. >.> And this code also assumes that quotes are given a "quote" class name, which isn't really the case.

But this would in theory make italicized text inside a quote appear normal.
