I like Lemony Snicket the writor of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Do creators of cartoons count? If so I also like J. G. Quintel the creator of Regular Show, Hayao Miyazaki, Walt Disney, and Mike Judge, the creator of Beavis and ButtHead.
You're not a joke, you fit right in!

C. S. Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia

J. R. R. Tolkien The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings

J. K. Rowling Harry Potter

If you like any one of those three authors stories how could you not also like the others? They are the essential trilogy of fantasy literature with honorary mention of Rowling's other book The Tales of Beedle the Bard as a supplement to her Harry Potter series.
