How did you decide/get your avatar?

Got this idea from another forum I'm on.

My current one is from the last episode of the original 1963 Astro Boy anime, "The Greatest Adventure on Earth". While watching the episode, I saw this shot of Atom and thought it would make a good avatar, and in my opinion, would make a good replacement for my previous avatar. I paused the episode, made a screencap, and cropped and re-sized the image to make it an avatar.

Also, Atom is my favorite character in Astro Boy (but really, who does that not hold true for on this site?), so I figured, "Why not?"

How about you guys? How did you get your current avatar and decide on using that avatar?

It was over 6 years ago, so I vaguely remember wanting a winking Astro avatar, and this scene is the one I had in mind. Strange Wings made the first version for me, and also presented me one or two more possibilities.

I love it and can't imagine changing it!

On the other hand, I still like but I think my own signature is getting on my nerves, and has for a while, so I should change it.

Quite simple:

I love Alan Moore, hard to say whether or not I think he's better then Tezuka. But Rorschach is one of his best characters next to V. And he does look kinda Ghostly so I thought I'd use it.

And I thought the signature Alittleacorn made looked cool.

My avatar comes from what is one of the best illustrations I've seen in my life, the cover for the Metropolis Memorial boxset from Japan, which I actually am expecting to receive in the mail in two days.



I've actually changed my avatar quite a few times. I've often had ones of Astro and Kenichi together, because I want to "subliminally" show my support for them as a pairing. >.>

I can't remember how, but I think I had a choice out of a colour one and the one I'm using. I don't want to change my avatar, but I really don't cear about my sig.

The avatar I use is actually a direct result my user name; Novacain is the villain in Episode 36 from the black and white Astro Boy series.
I took three screen-shots and made the animated giffy using an Adobe program.

I don't want to change my avatar, but I really don't cear about my sig.

Same here. Right now I'm too lazy to even make a sig.
Prior to my user name change I have only altered my avatar once, as Shiyonasan pointed out here:

By the way, I like how your new avatar is just a mirrored version of the old one. Catches my eye every time I see it.

I made my Avatar on paint mode, like most of my fan-art. but, i do enjoy pictures off of Photobucket as well. i just wish ppl would post more cute Atom pictures.

Once upon a time, I actually did put in time to do those large signatures on GIMP and stuff, but now I don't care at all.

I got mine from one of lunchboxfox's pictures, but I edited the mouth a little and then saved it as a jpeg :d oh: and when i cropped it and resized it, the quality didn't turn out too great
