I was planning on making a short video before you asked, but I decided this approach might be more prompt and relevant.

So to answer your question...3D modeling is much like Drawing...I start with primitive shapes, and refine or add to them, until I get the shapes and forms I want...

You can start with a 2d primitive such as a circle or a plane, or you can start with a 3D primitive such as a sphere, or a cube....

I often like to start with a plane, and build up a simple surface. Then I will refine it and add details as needed...
