DARPA competition for humanoid robots

Postby jeffbert » 13 years ago

GIZMAG just made a page about this competition for real autonomous robots, as opposed to remote-controlled units:

http://www.gizmag.com/darpa-robotics-challenge-launch/22139/?utm_source=Gizmag+Subscribers&utm_campaign=1c88b1c718-UA-2235360-4&utm_medium=email

The article states that the intention is to find a robot able to deal with rescues in disasters, & the prize is $2M! :w00t: If they can actually make one that meets the specs, household helpers are just around the corner.

Holy crap, that's amazing! Would be amazing (& awesome!) if someone made a robot that could do all of those challenges on its own.

-Jim Morrison

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you, too, can become great."
-Mark Twain
